2012 was arguably the greatest year ever for comic book movies. We not only had Christopher Nolan's epic finale to his Batman trilogy, but geek God Joss Whedon finally brought Earth's Mightiest Heroes to the big screen all in one movie. Throw in Spider-Man return to the big screen, a damn good Judge Dredd movie and, er, Ghost Rider, and this was quite the year for our favourite superheroes. Here's your chance to cast your vote for which of them you consider to be the best.

Ghost Rider (Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance)

Captain America (Marvel's The Avengers)

Iron Man (Marvel's The Avengers)

Thor (Marvel's The Avengers)

Hulk (Marvel's The Avengers)

Hawkeye (Marvel's The Avengers)

Black Widow (Marvel's The Avengers)

Nick Fury (Marvel's The Avengers)

Agent Coulson (Marvel's The Avengers)

Spider-Man (The Amazing Spider-Man)

Batman (The Dark Knight Rises)

Catwoman (The Dark Knight Rises)

Judge Dredd (DREDD)

Hmmm... I'm not sure. I think my favorite hero was Chris Nolan for his wonderful wild rollercoaster that was great in every way and had NO plot holes whatsoever. Nolanites!

I am a big Batman fan (except for Nolan's Batman), but Batman always wins polls here. It would be interesting to look at the IP addresses of those who vote to see how many of the same people vote numerous times to make that happen all the time, especially when the Nolan fans are always complaining about this being a Marvel dominated site. Something doesn't compute.

That being said, I have always been a Thor fan from my younger days of reading every Norse mythology story I could get my hands on, so Thor it is for me.

Captain America. To me, it will always be him.

What's up with the Batman votes? The movie was 3 hours long and he was in it for what like 25 minutes? Spidey would kick his ass anyway. Bruce Wayne, Parker is taking you down.

@KnightofSteel
How did batman quit? He was accused of the murder of Harvey Dent and others, if he stayed as batman after that, the people would've hated and feared him. Plus, he didn't need to be batman anymore since there was peace in Gotham for years until bane arrived, when he returned, so no, he did not quit.

I'm gonna have to go with Iron Man since he was the only one willing to sacrifice his life to save others. Batman just tricked everyone into thinking he did. And why the [frick] would people vote for Hulk?!

Agent Coulson gets my vote.

@Man of Superguy

If it's a team movie and you didn't vote the Hulk because of it... Why not put 'The Avengers' as a single cathegory. They've gotten more votes than Batman.

If you didn't vote the Hulk because it was a team movie then the poll doesn't make any sense.

I voted for Batman. I guess my second and third favorite would be Coulson followed by Iron Man.

HULK

1

2

Best adaptation of the HULK on film. The character had struck out twice on the big screen and was heading for a TV adaptation before Joss Whedon took a crack at him.

And, I second what KnightofSteel said:

noquitter

“And I swear by the spirit of my parents to avenge their deaths by spending the rest of my life warring on all criminals.

I don't know. Didn't watch Dredd, but I think this year was pretty disappointing. Both the biggest CBMs of the year - TDKR and Avengers - were far less cool than I was expecting. I was surprised by Ghost Rider, though -- not a great movie at all, but better than the first one. Amazing Spiderman was fine, but I do prefer Sam Raimi's. So, for my part, I'll keep wishing next year's superheros will bring some great (or at least not average) movies to the screen. Pretty anxious to see Snyder's take on Superman and Shane Black's vision to Iron Man.

Hulk is hardly even a superhero, seeing as he's definitely killed and injured innocents, even in the Avenger movie.

And really? REALLY? People want to legit get up and insult the Batman in Nolans films?

How about Tony Stark "not being able to sleep now"? Some hero. Or Hulk not getting a second film i.e. probably NOT even being a hero (Hulk) until the conflict in Avengers 2?

People are full of shit here, butthurt marvel fans.

Its called Conflict you dumbasses. It takes a real hero to know when you're not needed, a real hero to destroy your own name in order to protect another, a real hero to INSPIRE rather than stupidly continue to defend like you're going to last forever.

While SOME comic iterations portray Bruce Wayne being Batman forever, its [frick]ing stupid. Why? BECAUSE HE ISN'T GOING TO LIVE FOREVER.

Batman Beyond and Dark Knight Returns are the true future of Batman imo. Passing it onto another and inspiring others
