Guy Ritchie Is Making A Comic Book Movie.. But He Won't Say Which One!

Guy Ritchie has long been connected with a "Sgt. Rock" movie, but MTV is reporting that his next project could be an entirely different CBM.

The "Sherlock Holmes" Director's next project was always assumed to be a big-screen feature based on DC Comics war hero "Sgt. Rock.".But it looks like his first foray in the comic book movie world could come from an entirely different direction.

"I intend to be making a film by January. I’m not sure exactly what, but I’m quite confident that by January I’ll be in production," Ritchie told MTV News when asked if "Sgt. Rock" was next on his list.

Although he doesn't appear to be dismissing Rock completely, saying he's "very keen on" making a film based on DC's hard-nosed World War II hero, but it's "an interesting time in movies right now ... I’ve never read so many good scripts."

Possibly most interesting, however, is Ritchie's tease that there could be a new comic book property he has his eye on. When asked if he's developing any other comics-based projects, Ritchie teased, "That, you’ll find out shortly."

"I don’t commit myself in case I tread on someone’s toes," he explained, adding that this mysterious project could "arguably, possibly" connect to that film he's looking to kick off in January.

"What I like is a world where you have major broad poetic license, whether its comic properties or whatever," he said. "I like stepping into an animated world. Exactly how that animation manifests itself is secondary. The primary thing is to leave what we perceive as a normal world and depart into a '300-type or 'Avatar'-esque. And that appeals to me. I like 'Sin City' and '300' and 'Watchmen.' I like departing from a normal world."

It's unlikely that Ritchie will be bringing any "capes" to the screen however as he says..

"Superheroes aren’t really my thing,"

Any ideas what he could be working on?

Knowing Ritchie it will be a gangster type story. My guess is Vertigo's 100 Bullets which i hear there is a script for doing the rounds.

I definitely think they should make a Sgt. Rock movie. Make it like the Dirty Dozen!! That would be cool.

Maybe Guy Ritchie would enjoy making a movie in which superheros get their asses stomped. I'd love to see an adaptation of The Boys.

Well surely it'll be The Gamekeeper, the comic that he helped create for Virgin Comics? It's listed on his upcoming films too.

It's the story of an Eastern European man who escapes the mob across there and comes to work on a Scottish Highlands estate as a Gamekeeper. Later in life the mob track him down and he uses his skills, and the land, to protect himself.

I believe that's it last I heard anyway.

ror 100 bullets is a great guess. It has a style that I'm sure Ritchie likes and a revolving door of characters therefore giving him his "poetic license" he was talking about.

The phrase "poetic license" scares the shit out of me.

No guys, if he's talking about stepping on somebody's toes, it means he's talking about a movie that's already slated to happen. And from the short list we have, also judging by his style and the possible monkeys running the show, i'd bet my red money on Supermax.

JOSH HOLLOWAY FOR GREEN ARROW!!!
