So I was watching Batman Begins the other day and there was one particle part of the movie that well caught my attention. Its the scene at bruce wayne's birthday party. He's introduced to a man named Ra's Al Guhl and when the man turns around Bruce says your not Ra's I watched him die. Then Liam Neelson comes in and lets him knows that he is correct. Then he goes on to tell him this

DUCARD:
But is Ra's al Ghul immortal?

Are his methods supernatural?

Or cheap parlor tricks to conceal
your true identity, Ra's?

Surely a man who spends his nights
scrambling over the rooftops of Gotham...

...wouldn't begrudge me dual identities.

I saved your life.

I warned you about compassion, Bruce.

Your quarrel is with me.

You let these people go.

You are welcome to explain
the situation to them.

BRUCE:
Everyone.

Everybody?

I...

I want to thank you all for coming here
tonight and drinking all of my booze.

[GUESTS LAUGHING]

No, really.

There's a thing about being a Wayne...

...that you're never short of
a few freeloaders, like yourselves...

...to fill up your mansion with.
So here's to you people. Thank you.

- That's enough, Bruce.
- I'm not finished.

To all of you...

All of you phonies,
all of you two-faced friends...

...you sycophantic suck-ups
who smile through your teeth at me...

...please, leave me in peace.

Please go.

Stop smiling, it's not a joke.
Please leave.

The party's over, get out.

The apple has fallen very far
from the tree, Mr. Wayne.

He's turning into a jerk.

Amusing.

But pointless.
None of these people have long to live.

Your antics at the asylum
have forced my hand.

So Crane was working for you.

His toxin is derived from the organic
compound found in our blue flowers.

He was able to weaponize it.

He's not a member of
the League of Shadows?

Of course not. He thought our plan
was to hold the city to ransom.

But really, you are gonna release
Crane's poison on the entire city.

Then watch Gotham tear itself apart
through fear.

BRUCE:
You're gonna destroy millions of lives.

DUCARD: Only a cynical man would call
what these people have "lives," Wayne.

Crime. Despair.

This is not how man
was supposed to live.

The League of Shadows has been
a check against human corruption...

...for thousands of years.

We sacked Rome.
Loaded trade ships with plague rats.

Burned London to the ground.

Every time a civilization reaches
the pinnacle of its decadence...

...we return to restore the balance.

Gotham isn't beyond saving.

Give me more time.
There are good people here.

You're defending a city so corrupt...

...we have infiltrated
every level of its infrastructure.

Time to play.

When I found you in that jail,
you were lost.

But I believed in you.

I took away your fear,
and I showed you a path.

You were my greatest student.

It should be you standing by my side,
saving the world.

I'll be standing where I belong.

Between you
and the people of Gotham.

No one can save Gotham.

When a forest grows too wild,
a purging fire is inevitable and natural.

Tomorrow the world will watch in horror
as its greatest city destroys itself.

The movement back to harmony
will be unstoppable this time.

- You attacked Gotham before?
- Of course.

Over the ages our weapons
have grown more sophisticated.

With Gotham we tried a new one.
Economics.

But we underestimated certain
of Gotham's citizens...

...such as your parents.

Gunned down by one of the very people
they were trying to help.

Create enough hunger
and everyone becomes a criminal.

Their deaths galvanized the city
into saving itself...

...and Gotham has limped on
ever since.

We are back to finish the job.

And this time no misguided idealists
will get in the way.

Like your father, you lack the courage
to do all that is necessary.

If someone stands in the way
of true justice...

...you simply walk up behind them
and stab them in the heart.

- I am gonna stop you.
- You never did learn...

...to mind your surroundings.
I warned you about compassion, Bruce.

Sorry I know its a lot to read. But the first thing i noticed is the talk of supernatural abilities. I know everyone says no supers in the nolanverise. but what if he is some how leaving it open with this line. At this time bruce does not know much about the league of shadows. And what if Mr. Nolan has had a change of heart. What if for this final film he is gonna go balls out. He would not really be destroying anything he has done only expanding it. I mean really think about it harvey dent suffers way beyond third degree burns that would take some one months to heal, and then he is out of the hospital in a couple of weeks and then survives a over the top car crash. I mean how realistic is that. Also batman is seriously wounded before the fight with Ra's and there was not mention of it. I think if they opened it up to the lazarus pit and did it as realistic as possible not only fans of batman would enjoy it but the average person could buy it. My second noticeable thing is when bruce ask Ra's if he has attacked gotham before and Ra's says yes. I mean be just super fan boyin' it but he didn't say the league he asked if RA's himself attacked gotham before. with all the news and pic were are getting for the Dark Knight rises I am pretty sure the league is back and maybe so is Ra's with say his daughter Talia and his Ubu that is now bane. Why would there be flashbacks of Ra's youth and bring the character in as a cameo. In my opinion and I am sure you will all give me yours I think Nolan is taking us down a well crafted timeline and path. Will this lead to ? I Metropolis i don't know but I think if some how he can pull this off and make the supernatural vibe feel good with the audience I think he is surely setting up the DC universe. I mean think about it if a man has been around for 400 plus yrs. then why not a kryptonian or a amazon goddess. I have to admit I think DC needs this not just to compete with marvel but to keep the characters relevant. I will admit that yes marvel is taking us to the avengers but lets face it IM 2 and Thor were big let downs. DC needs this because as popular as Batman is Superman is the face of the whole superhero universe. He is the most iconic character (and I dont really care for him). And the other thing to mention is well Nolan is working on the Superman movie. Maybe not directing it but he could be just moving on from Gotham to Metropolis. I don't just my ramblings. Thanks for reading.

Thor was a letdown? Man I even read the whole article and lost interest at that point. Iron Man 2 and Thor were both awesome movies, Thor more so. Let downs are movies that completely suck after we've watched em and built up our own expectations, so Thor and Iron Man 2 were not 'let downs'. IM2 is still a good movie. Thor is just plain awesome.

Now back on subject: the answer is exactly in the quote:

**Are his methods supernatural?

Or cheap parlor tricks to conceal
your true identity, Ra's? **

Ra's never says that the methods, or even himself are supernatural. He didn't say he was there to start the fire in London or start the plagues, its just a trick. The league of shadows are the only thing thats 'immortal' in the sense that it's always existed. For all we know, Ra's could be talking about his great ancestors doing these things, each carrying the title 'RA'S'. At least, that's how I understood it.

Thor was awesome. Miles ahead of that lackluster waste of money that is called Iron Man 2.
Iron Man 2 was the letdown. It left a bad taste in my mouth. It's extremely forgettable. RDJ single handedly saved that movie. He and the set up for Thor were the only good things from it.

@ThreeBigTacos @Justsomeawesomeguy

IM2 had alot of great moments, but it was like a scatter plot. The dots never connected into a solid film, which is why it seemed to come off as just a lead-in to The Avengers. Thor was a hot mess. Marvel did a great job of setting up Asgard and Loki for the MCU, bringing the lore to the silver screen... however the story was quite weak and the character development was poorly paced.

@tomasocelot

Nolan handled Ra's very well. Confident Ra's won't come back, a "Lazarus Pits myth" could play a part in TDKR. Pretty sure the current Batman ends with TDKR though.

sorry big tacos thor could have been a good movie but to me felt rushed. As for IM2 it was good but the final battle was such a let down. I mean you have to suits and one bad ass mickey rourke and the fight goes for about 2 mins. but to be fair green latern wasn't great either. I actually think that Ryan Reynolds should be banned from comic book characters for about 5 yrs. Just so we can forget the whole origin thing.
