If you don't like Kevin Smith or respect what he has done in the film industry then there is no reason for you to read any further. Just get off this page and go the "TheLonliestnerd.com" and shut the hell up. Chances are no one wanted to listen to you or your comments in the first place.

Now, without further ado, I bring to you Kevin Smith:

Many thanks to MTV for providing the video.

MMM, I do like Smith, most of the time, but he can also be a juvenile asshole. And his movies suffer for it. Hopefully his next one, "A Couple Of Dicks"(uggh) is a return to form.

As for Hamm playing both Bats and Supes, well he's obviously taking th piss, but I do want to see thsi dude act cos everyone sys he's great.

Funny, but I don't think anyone on this site watches that show. I have been wrong before........

Jon Hamm is an outstanding actor that would make a SUPERB superman/clark kent. But............................he is pushing 40 years old and he would need to put on a whole lot of muscle weight.
Shaman
Shaman - 10/8/2009, 9:41 AM
Adrian Pasdar would be a better Batman but Hamm could handle it.

oh and Jon Hamm would make an Excellent BatMan.... cannot believe i missed that!

@teabag. Yes he is getting older and the wrong build but to back that up Robert Downey Jr. was the wrong build and the same age bracket when approached for iron man but he pulled it off with flying colors!!

Several years back I read an interview with him where he was raving about how Affleck should play Superman. He makes me laugh, but he really is a 'tard. I don't know how the guy gets anything at all done, as busy as his twitter feed seems to be.

@Poni: Plus, he was willing to sell out to Peters and write that idiotic 'Superman Lives' script about ten years ago. I mean, I know he wanted to be involved in the project, but that right there proved to me that he's not a guy that fans can trust to fight for what they want.

Thats true actually. He makes fun of Returns for being boring, but at least it didn't have Brainiac fighting Polar Bears in it! Something his script would have had. Sure he makes fun of the idea in that youtube vid, but he still would have delivered it for the studio had they decided to go with his draft! That and of course, a giant spider.

MatchesMalone - 10/8/2009, 10:10 AM
Velox-You should watch the youtube video where he talks about how bad the ORIGINAL script was. He was actually hired to do the rewrite. If it would have been up to him he would have made a script all of us Superman fans would have been proud of. When douchebag producers like Jon Peters have creative control of things, all the writer can do to a script is put in what the producers want and hope for the best. It was Peters that wanted all the lame stuff like giant spiders and Brainiac fighting polar bears.

MPP-I am a Kevin Smith fan and hardly consider myself a drone. That's the pot calling the kettle black considering what you do for a living. You'd rather blindly uphold outdated, archaic laws than question the validity or necessity of them.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 10/8/2009, 10:14 AM
Yeah, true too that it wasn't his idea, i respect the fact that left to his own devices his script may well have been awesome...with dick jokes of course. But he was willing to play ball. And the fact remains, had his version got made instead of Returns, it would have been MUCH worse.
StephenStrange
StephenStrange - 10/8/2009, 10:14 AM
Awwww.. Thanks Velox. I have never seen Madmen but I have seen his austere mug on the commercials for the show about half a million times.

& I can't believe that about Ben Affleck. Too crazy. Smith must have said that because Affleck is tall or something.

Yeah sorry folks I am just not a Bale hater. No matter how much he mumbled and grunted, his performance was adequate in nearly every respect.

lol @ Multi... and why exactly is he-who-is-not-to-be-named not to be named??

MPP-I just don't think it's fair for you to state that Kevin Smith fans are "drones" just because you're not one. I'm all for sticking to the topic but it seems to me you stray from the topic all the time.

@Rorschach: True. And he could have argued with the guy. After all, Peters was and is a joke. The guy was a hairdresser that got rich off of an idea that Streisand gave him for 'A Star is Born'. Somehow he got the money to back that and bingo! Instant Hollywood credibility.

@MatchesMalone: I don't trust the guy to make a good CBM. He can't make ANYTHING without inserting all sorts of sexual innuendo and dick jokes into the script. Even his run on Spider-man and Black Cat had that stuff in it, so I say thumbs down to that idea.

MatchesMalone - 10/8/2009, 10:33 AM
Velox-I understand if you're not a fan of his. Not everyone is. Even I, as a fan, am not lobbying for Kevin Smith to touch any superhero properties. I think he is very good at what he does (comedy) and he has even said before that he is not sure that he would be the best choice for a CBM. My only point I guess is that he is a true fan like us and knows these characters inside and out. If given the chance, I'm sure he could at least write a good script without all the studio interference (dick and fart jokes notwithstanding).

Josh Holloway as Oliver Queen! Jon Hamm was the dude who was killed in The Day the Earth Stood Still, right?

I am a KS fan. Clerks and Chasing Amy are two of my favorite films, and I loved his Green Arrow run. Plus, he makes me laugh whenever he does those stand-up/one man shows at colleges. But he's made some real crap, and if he thought Jersey Girl and Zack and Miri were good ideas, then I seriously question his judgment.
StephenStrange
StephenStrange - 10/8/2009, 10:43 AM
It's undeniable that in certain circles, to say anything against Smith is just asking to get roasted. That was what MPP was talking about and he's right
