Having already appeared in small roles in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz Martin Freeman is now heading out for a third time with Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg.
Freeman's profile as a movie star just seems to be getting bigger and bigger with his critically acclaimed performance as Watson in the BBC's Sherlock and he will no doubt gather many more legions of fans when he hits the silver screen later this year as Bilbo Baggins in the Hobbit.
Freeman is probably best known for his roles as Tim Canterbury in the original version of the Office as well as starring as Arthur Dent in the big screen adaptation of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Aside from these roles (and his roles in Shaun and Fuzz) he hasn't really broken through to mainstream audiences until Sherlock made it big in the US and when he was cast as Bilbo.
With the Hobbit sure to be a smash hit and Sherlock having all but confirmed it's third season it looks as though Martin Freeman could very well be a household name in the near future. So teaming up with the likes of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg for a film that will most likely be critically acclaimed and do good business both in Britain and in the States is a very smart move on his part.
This news not only makes me more excited for The World's End but makes me glad that an actor with the ability and humour of Martin Freeman is finally getting his dues.
The World's End has a scheduled release date of August 14th, 2013
