An organization that uses the power of music and the music industry to help educate young people about HIV/AIDS prevention. The event is part of Borders’ nationwide “December One” series of events on World AIDS Day, designed to raise awareness and provide support for the HIV-positive community.
Participating in a panel discussion and signing will be Brian Michael Bendis (The Avengers, Ultimate Spider-Man), Colleen Coover (X-Men: First Class, Banana Sunday), Steve Lieber (Underground, Whiteout), Jeff Parker (X-Men: First Class, Underground), and Paul Tobin (Spider-Girl, Marvel Adventures Super Heroes). All the attendees with the exception of Bendis are members of Portland’s Periscope Studio.
Besides offering spirited discussion and autograph opportunities, there will also be some items to be given away in exchange for charitable donations. On his twitter account, writer Bendis said that the event will be “like X-mas for nerds,” as he has “a box of goodies to give out.” Artist Lieber tweeted that he’ll be “doing free doodles and sketches at the signing,” and has created a drawing specifically to give away at the Borders event.
Steven Lieber will also be giving away and original piece of art
