Well due to my limited resources and slow internet speeds, I was not able to upload pretty little pictures for this article/editorial. It has been a minute since I have posted anything on here reason being I'm currently deployed to (wait for it....) Afghanistan. So I will start with this and write up a larger scale article soon. I have a buddy working closely with the MoS crew so I'm expecting news soon. So before I start, remember this is in no way a Bash or a garbage talking fest between both DC or Marvel, I'm only stating positives and negatives on both parties stated. Enjoy!

MARVEL
Well Marvel has a long history. Might be the bigger of the two, keyword-might, but in all reality the comic book history for this company and publisher dates back, way back when newspapers were still being printed in Large, and Black and White Fonts. The started off with the earlier heroes like Namor the Submariner and believe it or not, Human Torch. Yeah The Human Torch.. This was back when Marvel Comics was known as Timely Comics (crummy name for a low key publisher). Timely Comics realized that they're name was crappy so they then switched to Atlas and then to Marvel. By that time they were pushing out crappy looking heroes such as Captain America and Super Rabbit and the duo Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal.Who had ever thought that childish cartoons like that would have influenced Mr. Lee to introduced Big Green weenies like The Hulk and She-Hulk?! Well on Marvel's part, Stan Lee had a Dream. He wanted to create a Universe within a Universe. A universe where heroes existed in their own world. So he created the new kids on the block known as The Avengers. Till this Day, The Avengers comics lead in comic sales and merchandise and soon maybe the box office. (highly doubt it). Where Marvel fails is in the Seriousness Dept. One Ethos the company believes in is, keeping it simple. They Publish heroes and villains but with a light tone. you can't tell me everyone takes Marvel serious. That is where DC has the upper hand. Marvel does have its side of darker heroes or symbols but most of em are aimed at even the lowest age range so they'd understand them. While they're movies have been pumped out over and over again, they're company is split ten ways from Sunday that even they don't have full control of what goes out and how it is displayed. Every year we get a new Marvel movie, crummy, cheesy, boring, a money grabber, a stunning visual, a fan boys dream...etc..the list goes on. I'm not going to say I haven't seen anything I didn't like, but there are only a few that made me say, "Marvel rocks!" (Hardly any, Punisher being one). The Avengers is coming out in half of a year and I for one am not so excited about it. It has been one of the most under rated conversation topics for the past 5 years. Everything Marvel, not Studios, but Marvel, has pushed out has been to complete a puzzle worth building. So far, we have gotten one good X-Men movie (First Class), a Fairly decent Spidey flick (Spider-Man 2), Iron Man 1 was good, Thor was decent, and Captain America just blew, but now the tentpole film. I honestly think they have over hyped themselves. Will it be good? Maybe. Will it make sense? Probably. Will it make Money? Yes. Will it be quality? No. AS time passes by disappointments will come and achievements will follow. Video Games are not in Marvels hand. They might have Films. Might. They do have Comics. Plus two for Marvel?

DC:
DC has been around much longer than their close competitor Marvel but it is DC who started to set the bar as far as comic book storytelling goes. My SN is Nolanite but believe me I don't side with them just Christopher Nolan. DC is one of the largest and most successful companies operating in the market for American comic books and related media. They also side with one of the bigger picture companies; Warner Bros. They plump out quality comics and quality characters. Deep and thematic storylines. One thing they don't have that Marvel does is Numbers. On any given day if Marvel characters rolled through DC's world they would probably beat the lights out of em and leave em wondering where they're comprades are at. But truth be told, I would choose Sinestro over Dr. Doom any day of the week. Face it, the villains are deeper and more sinister, the heroes are more emotionally hurt than physically, some don't even have powers but somehow still whoop anything they see, they're more interesting, and they too have a shared universe. If you think about it, both Marvel and DC have plenty of similarities. Batman is to Spider man as Superman is to HULK. They have rooted off of each other since the 40's when they both thought both companies would merge and create one single world. They thought. It didn't work out so well. Now and days, DC is more into the animated approach. With the relaunch of their favorite series, and the downfall of The Green Lantern, one wonders when exactly will they strike BIG at the silver screen. Soon I like to think. They have plenty of characters to potray, just not enough good directors who will do them justice. Remember it isn't entirely DC's fault. We DC fans, ooops gave it away...well anywho, we have The Dark Knight Rises to look forward to, Man of Steel and that pretty much sums that up. Hopefully we get a Wonder Woman and Flash Movie. Maybe even that Justice League flick we have been hearing about.

In Conclusion, Sure fans like me take sides, but what it all comes down to is preference. One might hate DC or hate Marvel but that right there is how the cookie crumbles. I for one am looking forward to the year of the comic book movies. 2012. Although we also called 2011 "the year of the comic book movies", and look where that got us. One green phony, a lousy shield handler, a no good for nothing armored up long haired who travels space and a green mask fattie who has run out of jokes. I may have punched out a few jokes here and there but do not be fooled i still have love for Marvel and DC. Oh and best believe i laughed my ass off when the Operation Early Bird countdown flashed a Map. Too Funny. Gotta love how well DC and Warner Bros. handles their marketing campaign. Let us not forget that music video piece Marvel let us see a few months back of this so called Avengers movie. Too Funny. Well Thats that. Enjoy!

DC hasn't been around as long as Marvel? DC was founded before the 40's and Marvel abit after. They didn't even get their most famous characters till the FF in 62'. I'm a Marvel fan, but I thought most knew that no offense.
