In an effort to bring another one of its properties to the big screen, Hasbro is currently developing a Monopoly film with an experienced team onboard. Following their successes with the Transformers franchise, the company is looking to branch out into more family oriented films with the help of the celebrated board game.
Deadline is reporting that Kevin Hart is attached to star in the Tim Story-directed adaptation. Hart is no stranger to board game centric films, having starred in the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2017, with a sequel hitting this December. On the half, director Tim Story is a very recognizable name in comic book community, directing 2005's Fantastic Four and its sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007. The creative is currently working on a Shaft reboot set for release in the summer.
There are currently no firm details regarding the film's plot or synopsis, but knowing the game of Monopoly, it will likely follow Hart in his efforts to accumulate a fortune. In what will clearly be a family friendly comedy, here's to hoping that the movie will be a surprise delight. Currently, the project is without a writer.
