Matt Smith has been named as the actor who will take over from David Tennant in Doctor Who - making him the youngest actor to take on the role.

I'm pretty pumped to see what he can do as the Doctor. I love David to death as the Doctor, and could easily enjoy him as the Doctor forever but change is always exciting in the world of Doctor Who.

Why do they keep changing the actor?

The change in actors is usually because the actor wants to move on and do something else, but instead of just canceling the show the writers came up with the idea that Timelords could regenerate their bodies if they were seriously injured. The regeneration completely rearranges the molecular structure of the body but the mind remains intact so they are the same person but can now be played by a different actor.
