Aaaand I would put a poster with each movie, but I've tried to put pictures in the past and it won't work for me. O_o
Anyways, let's get to the show.
1. The Dark Knight (2008)
This is a fairly easy #1 choice. I was blown away when I saw this. Everything from the acting and script to the costume design and quotes was just plain genius. And yes, I believe that Heath Ledger deserved the Oscar he won for his ELECTRIFYING performance as the Clown Prince of Crime. This is, without a doubt, a 5 star film throughout.
2. Spider-Man (2002)
Most people consider Spidey 2 to be the best of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, but I personally find more appeal in the first one. The costume design here are especially gorgeous (even if Green Goblin's costume was sort of unoriginal), and the film is absolutely perfect when it came to the origin story. And the fact that there are a lot of positive elements in it also make this one of my favorite movies of all time. 5/5 all the way.
3. Spider-Man 2 (2004)
Commonly considered one of the best comic book movies of all time, Raimi's second go-around is a masterpiece to say the least. Alfred Molina was perfect as Doc Ock, as well as everyone else in their own respective roles. Yet another 5 star film.
4. Batman Begins (2005)
A much stronger introduction to the Caped Crusader than Tim Burton's Batman, Begins dives deep into Bruce Wayne's origins and shows what drove him into crime fighting. This is also the first Chris Nolan film I've seen and was impressed right away. The casting here was especially solid. And while not perfect, it definitely raised the bar in the genre. 4.5/5 for this gem.
5. Spider-Man 3 (2007)
While SM2 was highly praised as one of the greatest movies in the genre, SM3 was almost the exact opposite. While many people had little to like about it (if anything), I still enjoyed it as a mostly satisfying conclusion to perhaps the most successful CBM trilogy ever. Would've preferred if Venom bulked up and had more screen time (and Sandman with less screen time) and if the emo Peter Parker stuff was taken out, but otherwise a 4.5/5 film for sure.
6. Iron Man (2008)
Also considered one of the best in the genre, the title character was played brilliantly by Robert Downey Jr, and the rest of the cast is good too. The effects are absolutely stunning as well. 4.5/5 without a doubt.
7. Iron Man 2 (2010)
I'll probably side with the majority and say that this isn't as strong as its predecessor, mainly because of its pacing and overall lack of intensity. Most of what worked in the first film works well here, however, and it remains a worthy sequel to what came before it. 4/5
8. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
I know I know, anyone who sees this will be like "Why such a crappy movie in someone's top 10?!", but bare with me here. Sure the script is sort of mediocre, but the action sequences are brilliant. Hugh Jackman was PERFECT in the title role. So, nitpicks aside, it was great in my opinion. 4/5
9. Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker (2000)
I vividly remember being a fan of the TV show when I was a kid, and ROTJ features what was good about the show, and then some. Mark Hamill returns in the role of the Joker, and he still had game. The rest of the voice cast was excellent too. 4.5/5
10. X-Men (2000)
This is what started one of the most successful franchises in CBM history (heck, I'm surprised it hasn't gotten the reboot yet). I honestly haven't seen X2 or X3, and while the movie itself isn't the strongest in the genre, it's a noteworthy introduction to the team (even if it was a little too Wolverine centered). 4/5
