We usually confine out trailer battle polls to the big Super-hero releases but we will make an exception for the first glimpse at Peter Jackson's The Hobbit, a movie some felt would never see the light of day after being plagued by misfortune. The first trailer was a bit light on action, but more than made up for it with some foreboding Dwarf singing and a tease of some pretty intense things to come. It was also a great re-introduction to Middle Earth, definitely reminiscent of LOTR, and that is not a bad thing..

Then we have the first full trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, probably more anticipated among most CBMers. This gives us out first look (and listen) of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, a few cool shots of Tom Hardy as Bane, an emotional speech from Michael Caine as Alfred and more of that unsettling chanting. The only thing it was lacking a bit was Batman! With Christian Bale getting only one line as Bruce Wayne. This was also quite light on the action aside from a montage of shots at the end and that awesome Football field implosion..

We know that both directors have delivered the goods on their previous entries in these franchises. TDKR being Nolan's final part in a trilogy and The Hobbit Jackson's first installment of a two part prequel. Most fans aren't too worried about these movies but which trailer did the job of amping up excitement best? Vote away..

Gotta go with TDKR. The Hobbit looks excellent, but better than TDKR? pff.

While I love the Nostalgia of being back in Middle Earth.
The TDKR Trailer was very well made.
And I Know they couldn't show that much with the HObbit trailer because its still a year away, but it still seemed kind of half baked for me.

No Matter!
They're still both tied for first in my most anticipated movies of 2012!

It's gonna be close. I think TDKR had a better trailer just..but AFTER the Hobbit trailer I'm not sure which I'm more excited for.

Hmmm. Neither trailer blew me away. Both featured chanting/singing. I'm going to go with The Hobbit because of the superior chanting. Those dwarfs could really carry a tune!

Hmm, The Hobbit. As much as I wanted to see the TDKR, I have been waiting a long time for The Hobbit to be released.

Hobbit was a better preview, TDKR left you wanting more. Obviously, that's the idea with a trailer.

I think the Prometheus trailer destroy them both
JatevinM
JatevinM - 12/22/2011, 7:16 AM
They aren't even remotely the same so why are they even being put into a battle? Two completely different movies, different genres, different tones, different feels, different stories.

The John Carter trailers have actually been my favorite, just because of the great visuals.

I'm excited for both. Loving the Misty Mountain song from The Hobbit trailer. Thorin Oakenshield looks badass. That said, we're talking about The Dark Knight Rises so....yea. Toss up.

Fanboys don't have anything to do so they compare both trailers and then bash the other trailer.

This is a stupid poll
Really?????????????
Comparing batman and hobbit they both different films
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/22/2011, 7:24 AM
Both different films?..damn had I realized that I wouldn't have made the poll. I mean how can someone vote of which trailer they prefer if both movies aren't exactly the same? BAD ROR!
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 12/22/2011, 7:28 AM
A poll needed to be done on this? Really? All you have to do is check in on this site on a regular basis and you know all the Batman fans are going to be marking TDKR. This is a CBM site, so the target segment is a little skewed. As already mentioned, these are completely different films so why try to compare them?
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 12/22/2011, 7:30 AM
Actually the Hobbit trailer got more positive comments than the TDKR one..and I think even more hits. And I'm comparing the trailers, not the movies.
Ranger14
Ranger14 - 12/22/2011, 7:32 AM
Ror@ You should know voting on polls here is all about power trips that people want to go on to prove their film is the best. I would venture to say most of the Batman fans would vote for the TDKR trailer, even if they didn't really like the trailer better just to make their fanboy case.

TDKR... by far...
marvel72

the hobbit was the best trailer this year & will be the best movie of 2012.
MassExecutions
MassExecutions - 12/22/2011, 7:41 AM
You know, the more I think about it, the more I like the fact that the TDKR trailer didn't reveal more. I feel like I've got a basic idea for the plot of this movie, but I know Nolan is going to throw some curve-balls at us. A lack of surprises is probably the only thing that would really disappoint me with TDKR.

I already know the fight scenes probably won't be good, so that won't be disappointing.
bhorwith22
bhorwith22 - 12/22/2011, 7:45 AM
I think the Hobbit will be a great movie, but I also don't think the trailer lived up to the hype, although its still awesome. In my honest opinion, I think Dark Knight Rises had a better trailer.

next poll.....

prometheus vs the hobbit vs the dark knight rises.

& after that.....

prometheus vs the hobbit vs the dark knight rises vs the amazing spider-man vs the avengers.

Ranger14 - 12/22/2011, 7:50 AM
Godzillafart@ Anyone who comes to geek out on this site knows what the result of this poll is going to be without even posting it. The only way the Hobbit would win out is if the Marvel fans all vote against TDKR just because they want to see it lose. Still not going to get an actual and honest poll result here on this one. That's all I am saying. ;-)

What about wrath of the titans?
CBMfan001
CBMfan001 - 12/22/2011, 7:58 AM
this was one of the toughest polls to vote, man im a huge batman fan and TDKR trailer was epic, nothing too revealing but a taste of awesomeness,

but i voted the hobbit coz of the score and song,Howard shore is the man, that song is so awesome and the feeling it gives is a mix of adventure and dread,of something exciting waiting to happen, man that is awesome and seeing middle earth and the simplicity of the trailer was just beautiful.

both trailers rely on content and beauty of them rather than just special effects and blowing things up,that's why this is such a hard poll.

these days it was good we got epic trailers for TDKR & HOBBIT and kick ass trailer to wrath of the titans.love Christmas :)

The Batman MUST step aside for Bilbo Baggins....

"What if he doesn't?"

He must.... he must.... or Smaug will come after him...

Hobbit for the win. TDKR is definitely one I am looking forward too, but Hobbit for the win.
DudeGuy
DudeGuy - 12/22/2011, 8:06 AM
Im as big a batman fan as it gets but lets face it the Hobbit is going to be better than TDKR, Spiderman, Man of Steel and the Avengers. Its going to be a great year for movies but the Hobbit is the one I cant wait for
marvel72
