i assume this means which comic companys characters are being adapted into the best movies..and nothing to do with studios and all that crap? In that case it has to be DC. Sure Marvel have more, but Dc are of a higher quality imo.
adamant877
adamant877 - 5/13/2009, 11:45 AM
I agree with you Ror, DC puts out higher quality, while (for the longest time) Marvel was just overproducing as much as they possibly could. I have a feeling things MAY shift with Marvel having it's own production company, but then again, that could all change when Green Lantern comes out... If it's done right.
For now... DC.

Yeah, I think DC has a lot of great animated films. Marvel just has a lot of films. But, DC films are, in my opinion, the best.

Marvel no doubt with ironman, the incredible hulk, and the upcoming movies ironman 2, the 1st avenger captain america, the avengers and possible sequels of each of em ............Robert Downey Jr is bringing marvel back.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 5/13/2009, 12:04 PM
Well, you could argue about which is most faithful to the source or not but it doesnt mean its the best movie. X2 took far more liberties than say Iron man but i still think its an all round better movie. Thats why i say DC, Watchmen and TDK are the standard bearers i think. People name check Iron man and The Incredible Hulk as examples of how to make a comic book movie the right way but as entertaining as they are they are about as deep as puddle! Depends what you want from a movie of course, but for me a really great movie needs more than smash bang wallop HULK SMASH to be considered truly great..like TDK and Watchmen
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 5/13/2009, 12:06 PM
Yep WATCHMEN & TDK have raised that BAR for comic book movies!!! ; )

MARVEL CAMP sucks Ultimate ballz!!! : D
adamant877
adamant877 - 5/13/2009, 12:07 PM
cbsmitty2: At this point only one of those movies has been made, so you're speaking speculatively. And as much as I am a Marvel comics fan, the majority of the GOOD movies have been DC.

Stfargher - 5/13/2009, 12:19 PM
honestly, i'm a huge marvel fan, love the characters. but DC just seems to pop out better quality movies.

Spock
Spock - 5/13/2009, 12:23 PM
I voted for Marvel but also like DC. But again DC has just as many movies & cartoons as Marvel. You can name all the cartoons. Justice League series done @ least 3 times over the past 40 +yrs By DC. Marvel Spidey Friends, but just recently in the 90's Marvel got better with the X-Men, Silver Surfer that got good ratings, but Marvel ran out of $ to produce more. Even the revamped SpiderMan, which is the best verison to date.

Beside for quality I will have to say Marvel. Marvel is lining up there characters pretty good. This is without a doubt a good business strategy, DC take note.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 5/13/2009, 12:24 PM
Well, from a purely comic purists view, then your right CBM, Marvel have been more faithful to the comics. Hell i love most comic book movies anyway! I even like the first Hulk and i really liked Daredevil. The only ones i felt had absolutely no redeeming features were Punisher Warzone and FF1..at least 2 had Surfer!
Shaman
Shaman - 5/13/2009, 12:25 PM
I'm with CBM on this one. Taking an optimistic approach, other than Batman(89),Superman returns, TDK, Batman Begins and Watchmen, DC has Jack. While Marvel has Spider-man 1 & 2, Incredible Hulk, Ironman, Blade 1 & 2, Punisher (tommy's version), Daredevil (i liked it) and all x-men movies which were all decent. So even though DC has produced "stellar" material, Marvel have been more consistent in bringing us decent quality more often. I vote Marvel even though i've always been more of a DC comic fan. Green Lantern is THE movie that might switch it for me.

Roar- You forgot GhostRider, other than cool effects, that movie was as appealing as a turd on a stick. Can't wait for the sequel though LOL

I agree. Thoughts may change in a few years, especially since Marvel has there own studio now.

loganaspatch - 5/13/2009, 12:44 PM
im marvel but i cast my vote for DC with both batmans, Watchmen and V for Vendetta? was that from DC ? anyway all Marvel has is IronMan and The Hulk so that would be 3 to 2 and that latest Batman was just that Awesome and i dont even read DC comics..
Shaman
Shaman - 5/13/2009, 12:47 PM
Touche on V, that was a good one... i believe it was Vertigo/DC that made it. I could be wrong. But then again, they also had "I Am Legend" which was a total piece of shit IMO.

SoulAllFlush - 5/13/2009, 12:51 PM

i posted that not reading other comments, and thinking back to the past 2 or 3 years, obviously marvel has alot more movies. i still stand strong that DC 2 top movies is better then marvels 2 top movies

Shaman
Shaman - 5/13/2009, 12:59 PM
LEEE777- I Am Legend is like V, also a Vertigo/DC comic. Hense why there was the whole "Superman vs Batman" debacle about the billboard they put up in the movie. Constantine is another one if you weren't aware :)
Betty
Betty - 5/13/2009, 1:02 PM
could someone make a list please. I dont feel like thinking about it.
Shaman
Shaman - 5/13/2009, 1:06 PM
And the way i see it, is that DC is giving me what "could" happen while Marvel is giving me what i want to see. Both are great but Marvel is just going the extra mile in regards to pleasing the fans and not the masses. Which explains why my hopes on Green Lantern are so incredibly high. GL could very well break the DC mold and kick it into high gear like Marvel are doing.

Betty- Honestly i wanted too... but a few brain farts into it and... i just stopped man... I JUST STOPPED!!!
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 5/13/2009, 1:09 PM

Here's what most annoys me about the Marvel/DC debate: everyone uses the current Batman series as the comic films that should be the definitive comic-to-movie adaptations. They are most often referred to as being accurate to the comics. Problem: they are NOT! The whole Ra's Al Ghul stuff was inaccurate, there were several made-up characters and there were several other things that didn't stay true to the comics as well (the Tumbler???... and wasn't Batman blue & grey in the comics???). And that's assuming that Rachel Dawes doesn't become Catwoman...

Not to say that they weren't awesome movies, cause they definitely were, but to call them the best depends on the criteria and if your criteria involves how accurate a movie was or wasn't to the comics then these don't get A+++'s.

And a great point was the one made by CBM, which I have also thought all along-- this current Batman cannot fight super-powered villians. Hell, he almost got whooped by the Joker and a couple dogs! Again, I loved the movie, but if you're saying that DC gets your vote because it was accurate to the comics then you may want to do your homework.

Betty,
Good thing Marvel put out "Howard the Duck," otherwise they would've lost your vote 11-12.
BLACKWINGS17
BLACKWINGS17 - 5/13/2009, 1:23 PM
LEEE777 - There is a big difference in something that you have total control over and something that you only have partial control over. Marvel has total control over "Iron Man" and "Incredible Hulk" but only partial control over "X-Men" - and it showed. Allowing Marvel to give their 2 cents worth in a board meeting is not giving them control.

Compare it to a basketball team that doesn't own their own arena - who has more control? The team, or the people who own an arena and are just allowing the team to use it? Yes, Marvel has the characters - but Fox can just as easily find other franchises to make money off of. Its not like Marvel can pull out anytime they want too.

Hate to beat a dead corpse - but Marvel would never have done to Deadpool what Fox has done, because Marvel would of known without a doubt that fans would of burned the theaters to the ground after that debacle.
