It seems that The Amazing Spider-Man is everywhere lately. After been implied on the Good Morning America that we should be looking at the skies looking for Spider-Man, New York Daily News revealed tonight that Spider-Man himself will be making an appearance in the New Year Eve's event at Times Square later this month.

The hero from the upcoming movie, “The Amazing Spider-man 2” will be swinging into the Crossroads of the World for the end of the year festivities after being tapped as the Official Super Hero of Times Square 2014.

And he’s not coming empty-handed: Sony will spool previously unseen footage from the movie that hits theaters on May 2, 2014, on Times Square video screens.

While actors Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx and Emma Stone are above the marquee, New York City landed a starring role in the sequel to the 2012 blockbuster. The film was shot entirely on location in the Big Apple.

“There’s the sense of energy and excitement that you can only get in New York and we certainly felt that energy and excitement as we shot the entire film here,” director Marc Webb said in a statement.
“The people of New York City truly embraced our production, and it’s a wonderful feeling to be returning to Times Square to ring in the New Year.”

In related news, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer is showing impressive YouTube views numbers, approaching 16 millions views just three days after its release.

Official Synopsis:
"We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp."

The New Year's Eve event at Times Square is televised, so I'm sure that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will get some huge exposition because of Spider-Man's appearance.

In my opinon, this is one of the most unique and cool marketing ideas since the Despicable Me cross country blimp. Spider-Man deserves it!
