The Amazing Screw-On Head

Actor Paul Giamatti has signed on to star in an animated series based on Mike Mignola's Amazing Screw-On Head comic book.

According to Variety, actor Paul Giamatti has signed on to play the lead character in an animated series pilot titled the Amazing Screw-On Head for the Sci Fi Channel which will be executively produced by Bryan Fuller and Jason Netter.

The animated series will be based on Mike Mignola's (Hellboy) comic book of the same name. David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon and Patton Oswalt also will lend their voices to the upcoming project.

Giamatti will voice the title character of Screw-On Head, a Civil War-era secret agent at the service of president Abraham Lincoln and an unsung hero who never made it into the history books. The character's special power is the ability to screw his head onto a variety of different bodies. Hyde Pierce will play Emperor Zombie, Shannon voices Patience the Vampire, and Oswalt is voicing Mr. Groin.

The finished pilot is expected to be released by early next year.
