THE MUNSTERS Remake Has A New Title

A source for TV Line is reporting that Bryan Fuller's rebooted version of The Munsters is undergoing another change, this time it's the title.

TV Line's source is reporting that the show will now be called Mockingbird Lane. This is a nod to the address that The Munsters move to which becomes their new home. Not sure why they decided to leave out the 1313 part of the address, but whatever.

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that the title of the pilot — which is being stewarded by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller and X-Men auteur Bryan Singer — has been changed from The Munsters to Mockingbird Lane.

The new handle is, of course, a nod to the family’s iconic Victorian abode, which is situated at 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

The project is currently in the casting stage, so there’s still time for Fuller/Singer/NBC to consult our dream picks for Herman, Lily and the rest of the creepy brood.

If it goes down the route of the Three Stooges, then I'll pass. I'm sorry, but that new movie looks awful.

Bryan Singer has certainly fallen off the cliff it seems. Next he'll remake The Brady Bunch.

I was gonna say "Biggest. Fail. Ever." about this whole thing until I saw Bryan Fuller's name was attached to it. I'll give anyone who created the great "Pushing Daisies" a chance, and if it's HALF as good, I'll be watchin'. STILL waiting on that PD Comic, Fuller!!!

What the [frick], just change the names of the characters and you'd basically have an original property, instead of shitting on a well-loved, established one.

I can totally understand why they'd want to change the remake's title. It makes sense: 1) This helps to remove the criticism it would get from viewers expecting it to exactly like the original CLASSIC series and it spares it from the stigma of the small minority of people who thought that the '60's Munsters was schlocky cheesy camp and insist that everything must be realistic and brooding.

That being said, if the wanted to name this show after the setting of the original they should title it 'MOCKINGBIRD HEIGHTS'- - which was the name of the TOWN The Munsters lived in, 'Mockingbird LANE' was just the street that they lived on.
