A while back we heard the news that Todd Mcfarlane had a strange new concept for a Spawn reboot. Well, in my interweb travels I found the full interview, and coming from the horses mouth, it does not sound all that bad... kinda'.

The interview was held by Blunty at the Supanova pop culter expo, and is split into four parts. It sheds some light on interesting things from Mcfarlanes past, work ethic and future projects. Check out Mcfarlane being the creepy savant he is below.

I think that the FIRST Spawn movie wasnt so bad. Michael Jai White surprised alot of people!

The first spawn movie started out on the right track, and then turned quickly into a steaming pile of shit.

KeepItReal, are you trying to indirectly claim first? Clever girl...

Haha! Anyway! I couldn't stand Spawn movie, even when it first came out, though granted the whole CGI concept was new then so that was all great and grand, but it did not stand up well to the test of time, unlike say Jurassic Park, though I believe they had a bigger budget. I thought Spawn didn't really develop the characters well, though didn't help that the majority of them could not act. Sigh...I'd like them to do something like The Curse of Spawn series, that was a great read, I'm a sucker for post apocalyptic events.

Yeah, when I stumble across Spawn on tele I always enjoy it... it's just that damn devil with it's stupid mouth that never really opens or closes that drives me nuts. If you're not going to sync words with the action, why even give him a mouth!

i do think the movie could have been a whole lot better than i did, but arent' all comic book movies like that. i think it was a head of it's time, and done in a low quility image. haha, but i think with the right director (eli roth) i think now it would the best time to push out a spawn horror flick, ectoplasmaic.

Sorry KIR, but i just cant comprehend how bad that movie was. I loved Spawn and was really looking foward to seeing the movie but was left with my jaw on my lap..and not in a good way! Michael Jai White wasnt the problem really, but everything else stank. But hey, i liked Wolverine so who am i to turn into Roger Ebert over it. If you liked it thats cool..but you WILL BURN IN HELL FOR IT ARRRRRRRGGGHHHH!;)

So Leee? Star Wars was 30 years ago! The only things that should change over time are special effects and they dont make or break a movie. Wolverine as a movie..not an adaptation..was pretty good. It had good performances and an interesting story about some great characters. I know it also had some terrible dialogue and plot points but still, Spawn had an obese clown shitting his pants and showing the result to Spawn. Wolverine wins

SpyderSpike - 6/2/2009, 2:24 PM
I loved the first Spawn movie, I mean I loved that line Clown spoke... that magical, very well written line - "You are the king of ewwy gooey."

You can hear sarcasm in text right?

Oh yeah : D, the STAR WARS movies everyone has now are all remastered! ; )

Come on ROR,,,,, CLOWN was a classic in SPAWN?? Maggot pizza anyone? Hehehehehe! ; D

If they are going to do spawn it needs an R rating not a PG-13. Spawn is a graphic comic and cannot be done right if its PG-13 it needs to be done like the animated series that was on HBO no holding back. I want dark and dirty and I know the first movie was years ago but come on that sucked so bad I cannot bring myself to watch that crap again if you paid me.

123456 @ Nice name! ; )

An yeah deff R-RATED!!!
BillyBlack
BillyBlack - 6/2/2009, 4:24 PM
I think that's the main bone to pick w/ spawn there LEEE.

They took an R rated concept and made it PG-13... and weak.

That HBO show was so on the money IMO that when I finally saw the movie, I was like WTF is this?! Basically what Ror was saying. I mean, you go from an evil clown eating an ice cream cone full of shit (literally) and maggots, to John Leguzamo in bad clown make-up and a cheerleader outfit. FAAAART!!!

And I know a thing or two about bad clown make-up, bet that!

Ahhh let the man make his movie. If its good we'll like it if it's crap it's crap.

I like Jew-verine up there. Shnikt Menorah!
Osiris
Osiris - 6/2/2009, 7:56 PM
I think he should go big budget, cause it seems the big budget movies stick more to the actual plot line then the middle ones do, look at Iron man and Watchmen.

with middle we get crap like DB:E

but on the other hand low budgets stick really well with not just story but costumes too like Blood the last vampire and Kick Ass. (from what i can tell)

I don't like his idea for a low budget film though where spawn wont be seen till like the last ten mins of the movie and then he is all black or whatever bah on that, also I don't want to see a movie about Sam and Twitch (even though they are good characters) I want to see Spawn vs Violator or Angela or someone that will kick him around the back ally a lot, Sam and Twitch would be good additions though and help with plot movement.

The original was ok but could have used more plot and better acting and adding Sam and Twitch would have been good too, they were always trying to figure out the mystery that is spawn.

I think we can agree that both spawn and wolverine were not shining examples of what great comic book movies are.

ROR-01...Dude, Comrade! are youseriously saying that that was worse than any of the Lex Luthors or King pin or Mehisto or Mr. Freeze, or venom , or asobing Man , or Dr. Doom or ... you get the point right? .... Lequizamo was correct... the writing and the rest were bad , but Jon . L. was straight up and down!
