UPDATE: Matthew Vaughn To Direct Another Of Mark Millar's Comic To Movie Adaptations?

The comic book writer and creator behind the likes of Kick-Ass, Nemesis and Superior has taken to Twitter and revealed that X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn will direct another of his adaptations...

Well, here's an interesting rumor for you. As you can see below, Mark Millar has revealed via Twitter that the director of the big screen adaptation of Kick-Ass (and more recently X-Men: First Class for Fox) will helm another of the Scottish writers creations. With Tony Scott attached to Nemesis and Nacho Vigalondo set to helm Supercrooks, that only really leaves Kick-Ass 2, Superior or something altogether new!

What do you guys think about this? Which of Millar's creations would Matthew Vaughn be best suited to? Would you rather see him get on with making a sequel to X-Men: First Class beforehand? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

UPDATE: Mark Millar has taken to the "Millarworld" forums to set the record straight about a few things regarding Matthew Vaughn's involvement and his other planned projects.

I'm already seeing the usual "I'll believe it when I see it bullshit" and so just let the directors spill the beans now, staying nicely silent and pulling the strings as ever in the background. As you know, that Nemesis with Tony Scott, Supercrooks with Nacho Vigalondo and 2 secret projects with Matthew all being worked on as movies at the moment. I can't talk about Superior yet (it's the studios call as they're paying the dough) or Kick-Ass 2 (any vague HINT of what's happening seems to become a massive story), but some WAR HEROES movie news to break in the next couple of weeks. This was as big a surprise to me as it is to you, but I'm very, very happy about it.

An adaptation of War Heroes is in the works? Pretty fantastic news I'm sure you'll agree! Millar also points his readers towards the recent revelations that he and Vaughn are working together on espionage themed comic book and film (seemingly along with artist Dave Gibbons) but whether this is in fact the movie he'll direct remains to be seen.

I think I'll wait till Vaughns lets people know what his next project is, Because Millar likes to talking a lot of shit. and is Tony Scott directing nemesis or was that another load of crap from Millar

I'd rather it wasn't Kick Ass 2. I mean I loved the first one, but it just seems like one of those stories where the sequel will never have as much oompf! as the first one, and doesn't do critically or commercially as well as the original. Just leave it as one great film without the need to sequelize it.

Really?

Top of my list would be Red Son, the only superman comic I have ever found interesting. Second, I'd have to go with Chosen but no studio would possibly want to incur the crusade like backlash the subject matter would bring.

@ Nomis- Vaughn didn't direct Jonah Hex.

I automatically get excited for anything Mark Millar does (hardly a surprise after the likes of The Ultimates, Marvel Knights Spider-Man, Old Man Logan and his creator owned work) but the addition of Matthew Vaughn is a HUGE bonus. :)

war heroes well its been years since I heard anything about it. The last I heard Sony had the rights to it. IMO Superior should get a movie before it though

Millar just seems to be crapping out simple ideas with the hopes someone will adapt it into a movie so he'll never have to finish it. Not a bad idea monetarily, but he's ceased to be a legitimate writer. He's the opposite of Alan Moore.

I like some of Millar's stories but he seems like he is self-absorbed. Just continue to be creative for a couple of years, keep your ego to yourself, and then step aside for the next big thing.

^^^^^^^^Right ON plasticman my thoughts exactly!

he should do a sequel to first class. Millar gets off by smelling his own farts.

KICK. ASS. 2.

That, or First Class sequel. Kick Ass 2's never gonna get made, at this point. Millar is such a bum.

DAMMIT! When are they gonna announce a First Class 2 already? Why is the X-Men franchise getting sidetracked even though the movie was a runaway success???

@Nomis

Millar isn't the worst writer. Love him or hate him, I'd take him over Jeph Loeb any day. He's the worst writer.

That's pretty awesome considering that Vaughn has the Midas Touch.

The world is ready for 'Chosen'
One of the best mini-series that came out that year.
However Chosen would definitely generate controversy but I would love to see it on the big screen
