We Want More Avengers

Why haven't we seen anything else on the Avengers when its 5 months out? Are they rushing things? Check out my opinion...

So hear it is a little over 5 months till the Avengers debut and we haven't seen anything about the plot or the villains (We all know Loki isn't acting alone). All this while Nolan is teasing the heck out of people and his movie won't come out for almost 8 months. Nolan doesn't even need to tease it, because of previous success with Batman, and he does because people eat it up. But, how can people really get into this movie when all they have seen is that the team will suit up together for first time? They really need to get people behind the idea of who the villains are going to be. And if all we are going to get is Loki then we will have to rely on these heroes that haven't really performed consistently.

Thor
I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was a great story.

Captain America
Sketchy in spots but overall a good movie. Hayley Atwell is very talented :)

Iron Man
Awesome movie, great villain, great hero, great story.

Iron Man 2
Some may disagree, but I think this movie was campy and rushed. I didn't believe in the direction the movie went. If Tony Stark was going to lose it he should have ended up in a strip club, making it rain. Not having a mid-life crisis and looking for his mommy. Then the last 5 min of the movie was awesome, but it was only 5 min. I love a good story but it needs to be an epic battle or the story was wasted. This movie had neither. Plus, we should have gotten over the whole “introduction” concept in the first one.

Black Widow, The Hulk, and Hawkeye
Word is that these guys are playing a small role in the movie so I guess they will have to rely on the heroes that were mentioned above. I guess this means that they will just sell the impact of the inevitable destruction. At least Renner got to scalp a stuntman with an arrow. Insert Skyrim joke here.

All this and a teaser that doesn't really make me excited. Why do I care? I love comic books and movies. I am ready to get behind this movie but I need more. I want to be coaxed into anticipation.

So this is my plea to the powers that be. Give us something else. Not just a bunch of actor's interviews about how awesome it's going to be or how they should have had more involvement in the finished product or who the rest of the villains are, but a real trailer. Something that makes me salivate for the awesomeness that will be the Avengers. I'm worried that this movie will be rushed because they can't get us a decent trailer released. If they can't release a trailer before mid January I think this movie will have some noticeable flaws.

See the thing is, it's a fine line between completely spoiling things, and showing off what you have. The Avenger's I think is taking the safe road by not spoiling things, but yet showing off the heros- A: because despite the fans, joe public may not know of these characters much less the villians. If the trailer was full of moments showing the Avengers fighting Skrulls (for all sakes of arguement) then not only will that spoil the mystery Marvel has wrapped up, but joe public will only see Heros fighting Alien guys. Let the public get used to the idea of these different heros and movies joining together in one ultimate movie. I'm not saying that the trailer was a let down, but I think Marvel did the right thing by playing it safe with the first trailer, but at the same time, doing exactly what it needed to do: Get the public read for seeing these badasses on the same screen.

Nolan knows what he's doing. He is lettting the sucess of TDK usher in TDKR. Nolan's TDK is well known, and grossed a bunch of money, but marketing wise, what ELSE does the TDKR have other than being a sequel (threequel)? There isn't a dead actor to promote, and the trailer doesn't show much else than Bruce (Bale) and Selina (Ann). Does joe public know that Tom Hardy is behind Bane's mask? Or who Marion Collitard even is? (excuse the spelling if I'm wrong.) Nolan played it safe by not only teasing major villain moments, but giving the audience a small taste for seeing Bale again as Batman.

So let's stop comparing the two? I know that's not the point of the article, but I felt like I would address both the article and ILLWILL's comment.

Why haven't we seen any more?
maybe because they only recently finished filming, and aren't they still doing reshoots?
maybe its cus they haven't finished all the CGI needed for hulk and the aliens?
maybe because they dont want to spoil every last plot beat?
maybe you're just impatient?

Patience. Lack of a constant stream of enticing tidbits is an indicator of a movie's quality of lack thereof. Disney knows that it has a blockbuster on its hands, so they don't need to pump the well by propitiating fanboys with a steady stream of spoilers and whatnot.

Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man will be $Billion movies. In the meantime, go see, Ghost Rider-Spirit of Vengeance, Underworld-Awakenings, John Carter, Jack The Giant Killer, Battleship, Wrath of the Titans, Prometheus, Snow White and the Huntsman, Hansel and Gretel, The Bourne Legacy, Brave and The Hobbit-An Unexpected Journey when they reach Theaters. Their trailers are or will be on line and a new one will be put together for your obsessive enjoyment.

Green Lantern, The Losers, Jonah Hex, Conan The Barbarian, Cowboys and Aliens were fairly good but poorly realized screen plays.

If you need to see a movie really bad go see Mission Impossible in IMAX, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo or Hugo if it is still available.

Rant on CBMers!!!

Oh P. S.

G. I. Joe: Retaliation, Men In Black 3, Haywire, Journey 2- The Mysterious Island are also on the way! Eat popcorn and enjoy the mindless fun like you did for The Transformers movies or Pirates of the Caribbean movies!

P. S. to my P. S.

The Hunger Games has the potential to be huge and to be very good. This might be the movie to ease your appetite for the Avengers.

The recent announcement of post converting the Avengers into 3-D may delay a new trailer a bit so again I urge you to see Hugo in 3-D by a great film maker.

Concentrating on news about Ender's Game, Pacific Rim, Battlestar Galactica, The Lone Ranger and Tonto may ease your anxiety a bit. The new Thor director or the new Ant-Man script or what Shane Black will do with Iron Man 3 might help too.

We got a Hobbit trailer now but what about a Superman teaser now or must we wait for The Batman movie? Come on Zach "Sucker Punch" Snyder, what have you got on film?!!!

With all the recent marketing of TDKR I think that anything about The Avengers would pass unnoticed. Now that things are a little more quiet, they just have to wait a little more and give us the good stuff.

I don't understand how anyone can possibly think this movie is beign rushed. They've been planning it since before the first Iron Man movie came out. so what, 7 years? yeah, they're really doing a rush job, aren't they?
gamecreatorjj
gamecreatorjj - 12/27/2011, 7:32 PM
@corndogburglar oh yes they are rushing it, we got hulk and ironman with subtle refrences to avengers, it was good, those are the best MCU movies, but after they got a good response they wanted to make sure the Avengers happen while Ironman was still relevant, they made ironman 2, to keep the hype going, thats why it was basically a prelude to avengers, they rushed out Thor and Cap, and those turned out to be mediocre at best, because if the Avengers comes out too late, and these characters are no longer important to the kids, no one will be interested except for the fans

Great article! I couldn't say it better myself! The bottom line is that all we know is that this is an avengers movie. That is it. We are fanboys, we will see it just because its an avengers movie, but joe public will not. That's what has me worried. The movie comes in 4+ months and they haven't shown anything to make someone who's not familiar with the avengers think it will be a good movie. Iron man performed great, but thor, cap and hulk movies did not. Marvel has showed anything to make someone that did not care to see these movies want to see avengers.

I'm sure disney/marvel is probably waiting for the superbowl to start the main ad campaign. That's probably when they are going to reveal the aliens and "mystery villain" also...

For the love of all that is still pure in this movie, DO NOT show me the villains. I will rip off more throats than some guy who can rip off throats!

@IllWill:
"Wowwww I agree wholeheartedly I've been saying for a while that this movie seems like it won't be developed towards its full potential and the trailer confirmed that and to make matters worst we haven't gotten any new news about this film aside from the occasional actors & actresses interviews."

So by the TDKR showing absolutely NOTHING interesting, what does that prove? The less news the better. Why have something spoiled out with a movie as grand as The Avengers?

"None of the Marvel films were real successes in film making except for maybe IM. Please don't even get me started on TDKR which I have a feeling ( not based on the iTunes record) that this movie will blow minds n make more than the billion dollar TDK."

Youre joking right? All of the Marvel Cinematic Universe films have been well received by critics and fans alike. TDKR will not make anywhere close to TDK. Theres no Joker in it, so thats not gonna happen. Iron Man 1&2 and Thor did better than Batman Begins at the box office with Captain America coming in very close.

"MARVELS CUTS CORNERS BE IT WITH DIRECTORS, quality FILM MAKING, 3d INSTEAD OF IMAX, and so forth."

Can you explain this please? Its all about who can effectively bring the character on screen, not by the popularity of the name. Green Lantern tried this and look what happened? It sucked.

3-D conversion and a few re-shoots will delay a trailer for most movies and there are those pesky Super Bowl teasers to put together!

Bring on the news of what else is going on, movies and TV please!
