Detective Comics' Scott Snyder did some of his own sleuth work, noticing two mysterious characters featured in a variety of different children's comic books. They have been appearing in both the background and foreground as police officers, park rangers, security guards, and secret service agents. The same characters also seem to be popping up in other forms of media, allegedly discovered as a pair of cops in South Park, and seemingly making appearances in a number of commercials and movies. Are our eyes playing tricks on us? Are these cops stalking the general public, like Big Brother watching around every corner? Are they intergalactic time lords or alter egos of Bill S. Preston, Esquire, and Ted Theodore Logan, traveling between comic book worlds? Who are these "mystery hipster cops"? How far back does this possible conspiracy go? Is it a case of pre-emptive marketing, a subliminal preview of the next duo of comic book superstars? Are these simply stock images of generic extras that artists use from a catalog of background characters? Whatever it is, as W.F. Crispy pleads, "We gotta get to the bottom of this?". This is a mystery that needs to be solved...before it's too late!!!
