Sony's MEN IN BLACK Spinoff Gets A New Release Date

The long rumoured Men in Black spinoff (no, not the Jump Street one) from Sony has just secured a new release date and you can find out when it will reach the big screen after the jump. Check it out...

Men in Black III was a good idea in theory and despite an impressive haul of $642 million at the worldwide box office, the response from moviegoers was tepid and Sony Pictures decided to go back to the drawing board. Since then, we've heard that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones won't be returning, while the planned Jump Street mashup was put on hold because it all started getting too complicated.

However, that remains in development as does a spinoff from the writing team of Matt Holloway and Art Marcum (Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight). Absolutely nothing has been revealed about the movie but it does have a new release date. It was originally set to open on May 17th, 2019, opposite John Wick: Chapter Three. Now, it's going to debut on June 14th, that same year, instead.

Now, it's set to square off against the Shaft remake and it opens the week after Gambit and the week before Toy Story 4 (though it's hard to imagine that meeting that release date seeing as it's now undergoing a rewrite). Are you excited
for the movie? Be sure to let us know your thoughts below.

I actually thought a 21 Jump Crossover could’ve been cool. Maybe aliens invade and can jump universes so Sony could have had the MiB travelling through various realities, which are all Sony licences, so they meet the Ghostbusters, James Bond, and 21 Jump St.

This release date was already announced back in September, and made the news rounds for about a week.

After seeing Central Intelligence and Jumanji, I'm down for a Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart led Men in Black. I mean, those two comedic chemistry is off the charts.

Wait...another Shaft movie?! Also, I thought this was supposed to be some kind of female lead movie.
Well what ever it is, I'll wait and see on this one.
