AFTER EARTH Screencaps

AFTER EARTH Screencaps

There were a wide range of reactions to the trailer for After Earth starring the father-son duo of Will and Jaden Smith but its hard to argue against the film's cinematography. Could the sci-fi film be a sleeper hit in a stacked 2013 field?

A polarizing trailer debut for M. Night Shyamalan's After Earth here at CBM but you cant argue that there weren't some gorgeous shots in the trailer.

One thousand years after cataclysmic events forced humanity's escape from Earth, Nova Prime has become mankind's new home. Legendary General Cypher Raige (Will Smith) returns from an extended tour of duty to his estranged family, ready to be a father to his 13-year-old son, Kitai (Jaden Smith). When an asteroid storm damages Cypher and Kitai's craft, they crash-land on a now unfamiliar and dangerous Earth. As his father lies dying in the cockpit, Kitai must trek across the hostile terrain to recover their rescue beacon. His whole life, Kitai has wanted nothing more than to be a soldier like his father. Today, he gets his chance.

don't read on if you don't want spoilers

the twist is that the son gets in one little fight and Will Smith gets scared and says you're moving in with your auntie and uncle in Bel Air

@Goran

nah just some random guess lol

dont think their is time travel but i do believe it will have some Adam and Eve type of story to the movie. cause they cast 15 year old actress Isabelle Fuhrman in the movie shes one year older than Jaden Smith.

This twist at the end is that isn't Earth but Pandora and Jada's mother was really Neytiri of the Na'vi people.

It looks good, but haven't we seen the whole "a planet where everything wants to kill humans" bit? Not that I'm against it, I'm just asking...

Am I the only one that thought "Avatar" when I watched the trailer?

jazzman - 12/11/2012, 6:12 AM
@FanBoyBlack

well we have seen movies like that before but this got to do with a father and son trying to live.

i thought of marvel "Black Panther" movie idea :P

@Intruder

thats too long i hope im still alive to see it.

i would not cast jaden and will smith for the role but the trailer has the father and son element like T'Chaka and T'Challa. also the jungle environment seems cool in the trailer they filmed the movie in Costa Rica and California (Humboldt County). i remember some people saying it would be hard to film Black Panther in Africa well they can film in Costa Rica and California and make it look like Africa :P

The trailer looked OK for the most part, nothing really impressive. I'll probably wait till it comes out on DVD and give it a watch, I don't think it's worth spending the ticket price knowing Shyamalon's track record.

I''m a HUGE scifi fan, but what's with the big budget Scifi movies next year. this, Oblivion, it's almost too much to handle.

And the twist is... they are really in the newly re-uploaded Matrix on iCloud downloaded from the previously reloaded IBM Matrix... The OS is still updating, so the format a little primative in the meantime, that why there's sabertooth tigers and monkeys and shit... Maybe there will be a stranded alien enemy named Jerry and they'll hunt underground turtles together and think deeply about the meaning of Mickey Mouse... So what we have is 10,000 BC mixed with Planet of the Apes mixed with John Carter mixed with I am Legend mixed with Robinson Crusoe... very original... wow great movie guys... awesome twist... Only M. Knight would think of twisting other movie twists together to make a "super-duper-twist" (trademark)... I'm gonna go twist my head off now...
