Prior to premiering at SXSW, the movie was without an American distributor. But all that changed when the screened footage wowed studio execs prompting Sony Pictures to acquire the distribution rights with Screen Gems distributing it state side.UK readers will be able to watch this movie when it comes out on May 11th but no official US release date has been revealed as of yet. In the mean time, check out the character profiles of the teenagers who are forced to defend their block from an alien invasion.


ATTACK THE BLOCK follows a gang of tough inner-city kids who rob Sam (Whittaker) as she is walking home in a scary South London tower block. She flees when the gang is attacked by a small alien creature which falls from the sky. While Sam and the police hunt for the gang, a second wave of creatures falls. The gang grabs weapons, mount bikes, and set out to defend their turf. But this time, the creatures are much bigger. Savage and bestial, nothing will stand in their way. And the bunch of no-hope kids who just attacked Sam are about to become her only hope.

Written and produced by Joe Cornish, the film stars Nick Frost, Jodie Whittaker, and Luke Treadaway co-star alongside John Boyega, Alex Esmail, Franz Drameh, Leeon Jones, Simon Howard, and Jumayn Hunter

This movie looks so good, saw the trailer before Sucker Punch and it looked awesome. Like the english version of District 9.

what u talking about. its english they using its called London slang mostly used in inner city london The dialect draws influences from West Indian and African culture.

i dont mind this movie at all, but why do the aliens look like effin monkeys? they look like stuffed animals or something, completely 2d mostly as well. i m assuming the effects might not be completely finished but i get the feeling whoever did those characters is not really at a professional level. it looks cheap compared to bigger alien productions...even skyline (gasp!!)

your comment just made me laugh. do u think all alien type of movies need the creatures to look like the same. they said they want their aliens to look different from the typical Hollywood type of alien creatures their alien look like a mix of monkey and a wolf. the reason why it look cheap is cause its a low budget movie so they have to be careful with the resource.

Skyline sucked as a movie it got bad reviews "Attack The Block" has good reviews by everyone.

Hold on. You mean to tell me there's gonna be a movie with more than one black character and one of em happens to be the lead and its not a Tyler Perry Film and its not starring Will or Denzel? Lawd I thought I thought id never see the day.
