As far as sequels go, Roland Emmerich's Independence Day: Resurgence, which brought back stars Jeff Goldblum & Bill Pullman and teamed them with newcomers Liam Hemsworth, Jessie Usher, & Maika Monroe, didn't quite hit the mark with critics or with fans of the original 1996 blockbuster. It ultimately finished its box office run with a fairly underwhelming $382 million on a $165 million budget.

Earlier this week, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment officially detailed the film's upcoming home video release. It's been slated to arrive on Digital HD on September 23 and on 4K Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray, & Blu-ray release on October 18

There's a few deleted scenes, a gag reel, and a ton of cool behind-the-scenes featurettes, including one that spotlights the War of 1996. Check out the full list of special features and the cover art below:

I quite enjoyed this movie, except the presumptuous ending.

@Lem1 - I liked it as well, I felt like the ending was pretty good and makes for a decent link to the next one. Just keeping an opening if they make one.

I think most is hard on this because of how epic the original look, at the time the original was good but it completely lacks story and substance really, it really doesn't hold up well now.

No matter how I feel about BVS or Suicide Squad or X-men: Apocalypse...

They could never be as bad as ID: Resurgence.

I want to drink alcohol until the brain cells in my head that hold the memory of that movie burn and scream in horror, because how dare them make me remember!

[frick] that movie.

I saw this in IMAX, expecting to at least enjoy it for its CGI and destruction... And you know what?

F[rick] this movie. Worst spend money on cinema ever. Boring and little action, laughable dialogues, cringe-worthy and forgettable characters, bad acting and terrible script. Basically everything that could be messed up in a movie was messed up here.

Man, I still hate myself for bringing myself and my gf to this.

I wouldn't be surprised if Warner Bros hires Roland Emmerich to direct a future DCEU film.
