Now this is great news! It appears that "District 10" is a go. A sequel to "District 9" has been rumored since it was unleashed to the masses last year. WETA mentioned that "District 10" is in pre-production. The word is that this project may start shooting by October.

Will Neill Blomkamp direct "District 10?" No one knows. Since "District 9"'s Oscar nomination, he has a lot of options. According to MarketSaw Neill is in the director's chair as well as Peter Jackson in the producer's seat again.

Again, this is all a rumor and I'm waiting for an official confirmation.

Part of me thinks that it should stay as a stand-alone story, but the other part of me wants to see Wikus kick some human ass as a fookin' Prawn. Conflicted...

Prawns.
I still can't get over the fact that they even call them that.

My wife and I ate like three pounds of hot boiled prawns Saturday evening. they were really good.

TYLER @ Wasn't the be all and end all lol, it was an okay movie but I've seen the same story basically on the "OUTER LIMITS" TV show years ago, hardly original, it was a good movie though and needs a sequel!

AVATAR though was a BILLION times better!!!

Still neither touch the movie of last year, which is...

WATCHMEN!

@ MikeSanderson

no one said it would be a prequel. there's plenty to go off of to make a sequel...

it would rule if they pick it up right before the Prawn dad and son come back...that was the best movie last year hands down

I think this movie will suffer from the same thing that hurt the Matrix trilogy. No one saw the first movie coming (no expectations)... and was blown away. Then had expectations of some kind for the second whiched caused alot of folks to be disoppointed = /

LOL that [frick]ing picture Tea - is that your choice for the lead prawn? =P

Hell Lee - Watchmen is even similar to isn't it an Outer Limits episode, it's one of those shows. Hard, almost impossible to come up with something COMPLETELY original nowadays.

Anyway, yeah it's an excellent film - certainly the best at least sci-fi film of last year. But I remember reading an article where Blomkamp was bitching about big budget stuff, and how he didn't want to do more of it.

Wait, Lee's complaining that D9's story was unoriginal, but then praises Avatar as a billion times better...you just outdid yourself in making hypocritical statements man. That is the MOTHER of them all.

@ thatiscrazy, don't forget that Matrix II was hands down a crappy-ish movie regardless of what preceded it. It was bulky on efx and its own hype and dry of any kind of emotional congruence.

District 9 was a great story and I cannot wait to see where they'll take the story next

AT ManhuntersBastardChild "I cannot wait to see where they'll take the story next " thats exactly my point... we all now have expetations that will probably not be met because the first was so freaking AMAZING!

if Part two of the matrix had been the first, and caome out in 99, I honestly believe our perceptions of that franchise would be different.BUT I could be wrong... its just what I think. District 10 might take a big ass dump on every movie ever made.

Hello, im new here n i gotta say ... D9 was THE movie of 2009, hands down! Balanced mix of drama, emotion, action and special effects. And what i loved most is that the pawns were very believable and didnt look fake at all! Cant wait for D10!! Peace
