As the search for the 12th Doctor continues after well known Actor Matt Smith left the role of the 11th Doctor in popular British Sci-Fi Show Doctor Who, Craig Charles, commonly known for his role in Sci-Fi cult show Red Dwarf and well received soap opera Coronation Street, has expressed interest in the job and that he’d love to be the first ever black Doctor. He speaks to website “Purple Revolver” below:

"Yeah, having a black Doctor Who would be double cool. To be asked by the Beeb would be great, its such a classic show. But I think there would probably be too much cross-over with Red Dwarf, as we've got a new series lined up next year. Also, I would have to grit my teeth a bit, because the thing about Dr Who that always annoyed me was the graphics are crap. But, even if I can't be the first black Doctor, I am the first black man to own a house on Corrie, which is as good a claim to fame."

So what do you think? Would YOU like to see Star Craig Charles take on the 12th Doctor? We’ll just have to wait and see who gets the job as so far we can’t take any rumours without a pinch of salt these days.

Lister? That would be too weird. And where does he get off dumping on Doctor Who's effects? Red Dwarf was even cheaper.

@ SpoonWielder: He's half black. Blackish. He'd certainly be the blackest Doctor so far.

LISTER!!! I love Red Dwarf, but he can't be serious enough for Doctor Who. If you haven't seen any Red Dwarf, I highly reccomend it! But for smeg's sake, keep him away from Dr. Who.
