Apple TV+ has announced that Foundation will premiere on the streaming service on September 24 with the first three of the show's 10-episodes, and we also have a new trailer which should give fans an idea of the massive scope of this epic sci-fi adaptation.

Based on Isaac Asimov's series of novels, Foundation follows a mathematician named Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) who discovers a way to predict the future using his equations. When he foresees the imminent fall of the Galactic Empire (no, not that one), he incurs the wrath of a group of emperor clones known as the Cleons led by Brother Day (Lee Pace).

Check out the trailer below, along with an updated synopsis, and let us know what you think.

When revolutionary Dr. Hari Seldon predicts the impending fall of the Empire, he and a band of loyal followers venture to the far reaches of the galaxy to establish The Foundation in an attempt to rebuild and preserve the future of civilization. Enraged by Hari’s claims, the ruling Cleons – a long line of emperor clones – fear their grasp on the galaxy may be weakening as they’re forced to reckon with the potential reality of losing their legacy forever.

Developed by David S. Goyer, Foundation also stars Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn, Terrence Mann, Alfred Enoch and Cassian Bilton.

@kylo0607 - both his takes in Chernobyl and The Terror were heartbreaking n spellbinding. Such a great Moriarty too, hope he returns for the third (if it ever happens)

It looks amazing, but is it Foundation? Does not look like there is much of the book in there...

@JeffDowning -
The challenge of the first few books is there is very little character work involved. It is more about the grand scheme of things. For Tv or the movies they will have to make up some of that character drama that was implied in Asimov's text. Once they get away from the Empire to start the Encyclopedia on Terminus is when the real story starts.

Like Dune this has been somewhat of an uncrackable nut and I am hoping that they do it justice.

As great as the premise is (and how close to the books it ends up being), and the cast looks great, I'm not really sold on Goyer working on this. Just doesn't feel like a good fit.

I'm hoping I'm wrong and this turns out to be great, because the world (universe really) of Foundation is massive, especially if they have Empire and Robot set in that world.

Too bad it's on Apple+ though, I ain't getting another subscription just for this.

@bkmeijer - yea like you would expert someone like a Noah Hawley on this

@BlackBeltJones - I know there was a different showrunner before, and when he left Goyer stepped up. But yeah, Hawley could be way more interesting

Looks great but cautious due to Goyer

@Kyos - this is the first thing after The Banker that Apple TV+ gets my attention with, and thats not enough for me to subscribe either

@bkmeijer - I was really only sad about Wolfwalkers, the latest animated movie from Cartoon Saloon. Still no news about a Blu-ray release for that one. Still, won't subscribe for one movie and one show.

@Kyos - okay that looks fun too. Kinda reminds me of Over the Garden Wall for some reason.

Maybe in a few years time there is enough to get a subscription to fill one month's worth of watch.

Excited for this. Hope they adapt more Asimov stories to live-action. I enjoyed the 2004 I Robot movie but I feel they could more accurately adapt the anthological nature of the novel for streaming.
