I loved Knight Rider back in the day - even after my mom got me the pedal version of K.I.T.T. that one year for Christmas instead of the Power Wheel. R.I.P.

Some of my other favorite 70's television memories from Glen Larson...

The opening montage and theme song from Dennis Weaver's Mccloud detective show.

Erin Grey's Blue jump suit from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

Two brothers holding high profile roles on Battlestar Galactica.

Col Tigh, a competent executive officer to Adama and Boomer, the ultimate wingman to the one true space pimp, Starbuck. Seriously,I would read the fan fiction that has Starbuck,Boomer,classic trek Jim Kirk,Will Riker and Buck Rogers hanging in an officers club betting on which gal has lost that loving feeling.(Thats a shot out to another departed 80's pop culture figure,director Tony Scott of Top Gun fame.)

A remake for the cinema is on the way. Sadly, with Singer as director.

God dammit, STOP the petty bickering.

A man has passed who laid the foundations for the movies we now hold near and dear.

Glen A. Larson. A MONUMENTAL figure in our shared history.

I remember seeing the Battlestar Galactica film in theaters, in Sensurround. And his Galactica theme is the ringtone on my cellphone.

I once had, as a roommate, a lady who was the set designer for Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, a lady I am sure is ready to greet Mr. Larson on The Other Side. Perhaps they are having drinks now. Good on ya, Joanne.

And good on you as well, Mister Larson. The world is a little less colorful today, but with all of the work you did so long ago, you helped build the foundations for the rich panoply of science fiction and fantasy fiction that fills our entertainment universe this very day.

Requiescat In Pace, Sir.

And, Thank You.

blkyank, I had no idea until just now that "Col Tigh" and "Boomer" were real-life brothers. Thank you.

And, oh god, Erin Grey to this day haunts my imagination as one of the most beautiful women who ever, ever walked the living Earth.

@bropus

Sorry, I think I gave you the wrong impression.Col.Tigh (Terry Carter) and Lt.Boomer(Herb Jefferson Jr) were not real life
brothers. I should have said they were "brothas" as in they were both African American actors with major roles on a dramatic series during a time in television history when black characters were mostly only seen on comedies and presented as people to take seriously.

Outside of Lt.Uhura,there wasn't that many black folks in genre television during that era. As a black child of that era who loved SCI-FI,it was cool to see black characters could have a place in an adventure series alongside white ones like
Apollo and my favorite,Starbuck.

Another fun memory I have of that show was the toy colonial Viper I got for christmas 1978.

At first,my mother wouldn't get me one because it fired a little red projectile out of its front and little kids were killing themselves by firing it into their mouths and choking to death.

I begged my mother to get me one and she got me one for christmas along with a huge toy Godzilla and trip to the movies to see Superman and a movie tie in puzzle with a 45 record version of John Williams Superman score I played over and over again on my big sister's record player. It was great waking up christmas morning in Minneapolis to find that Viper under the tree.

Thanks Mr. Larson for helping create great childhood memories.

@MrCBM56

There is no cure from cancer because caner is a random mutation caused by genetics, carcinogens, etc. So at the moment it is impossible to prevent this mutation thus impossible to cure.

However, just how Magic Johnson is the only fat person with HIV on the planet it goes to show that money can treat almost any illness.

Unfortunately there is no profit in cures, because it eradicates what's making them money in the first place. There is however money in treatments, something that you have to take for the rest of your life is much more profitable than a one time cure

Just my two cents (*gets off soapbox)
