GOTG Contender Eddie Redmayne Up For The Wachowskis' JUPITER ASCENDING

Variety report that My Week With Marylyn actor Eddie Redmayne (next to be seen on Les Miserables) is in talks to join the cast of the Wachowski Starship's upcoming sci-fi movie, Jupiter Ascending. According to the site it's not a done deal, but if Redmayne does sign on we can most likely scratch his name off the list of actors said to be up for the lead role of Star-Lord in James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy, which would almost certainly clash with Jupiter Ascending's shoot date. Of course it may depend on the size of Redmayne's role, which according to Variety is not yet known. He would join Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis in the movie which is set in a time where humans are at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, and follows a woman who has been targeted for assassination by the queen of the universe.

^Some think he looks like a young Willem Defoe.

And I agree, he looks creepy. Much too creepy to play Starlord.

Interesting. But I've never seen this guy in anything. Wish Chris Pine would play the part. But I'm keeping an open mind. Probably some wouldn't like it because he plays Kirk in Star Trek.

I admittedly only recently started getting into 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' but if Redmayne is up for Starlord, Marvel needs to rethink things; as superotherside said it needs to be Chris Pine, or maybe even Garret Hedlund... Either way, either actor just feels more suitable for the part than Redmayne...

Never really one of my top choices for Star-Lord. Wouldn't be a big deal to me if he wasn't hired.

Eddie should play the Riddler in a Batman remake. Or Bruce Wayne/Batman if he beefs up a little.

For the love of humanity, someone PLEASE take the damn cameras away from the Wachowskis. Please, I beg you, just....just TAKE THE CAMERAS AWAY FROM THEM.

A Wachowski film is kinda like being made to watch celluloid versions of Wachowski masturbation; unpleasant and juvenile.

@imadick

no i completely agree with you. we know they are capable - they know they are capable - but it feels like they are actively going out of their way to be average (or sometimes even less than). i get the desire to wanna do the smaller arthouse film. but there is a balance that can be found.

they need to remind the cinema world of just how brilliantly badass they can be. when their names popped up for the justice league film, i was genuinely excited and supportive of them taking the helm. but for [frick]s sake - deliver! you know?

also, as for the film - if humans are at the bottom of the ladder, does this mean ANOTHER damn film filled with CG alien/humanoid creatures?

jesus christ, enough already.
