GODZILLA's Evolved Form In GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE Revealed By New Promo Art

The King of Monster Island has evolved into a powerful new form, as shown in promo art for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and enthusiasts are certain that this is a throwback to the Millennium era.

Some new merchandise for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has been revealed by Legendary Pictures' official web store and it has given fans a preview of Godzilla's "evolved" appearance in the next film.

A few official stills from the movie were unveiled earlier today, giving viewers a good glimpse at Kong. But the king of all monsters was shrouded in ice, and the official description of the picture stated that Godzilla was mid-way through his "evolution into a powerful new form."

Thanks to the new merchandise, we now know what that powerful new form looks like.

Kaiju aficionados have instantly zeroed in on the design seemingly being inspired by the Millenium era (sometimes called the New Century series) of Toho Godzilla films, which ran from 1999 to 2004.

The Godzilla design (or suit might be a better term when it comes to Toho films) from this era is known as MireGoji.  The most notable aspect of this era's design was that its Godzilla had a head shape that was more reptilian-looking and also had very large, jagged dorsal plates with a tint of pinkish-purple.

With respect to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, do you think this new design will bring with it new powers for the reigning monarch of Monster Island/Skull Island?

So far, none of the kaiju in WB and Legendary's Monsterverse seem capable of holding a candle to Godzilla and the fact that he's turning into something even more powerful should be taken as a sign that the new adversary is a threat that's equal to, or surpasses Mechagodzilla.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is directed by Adam Wingard (Godzilla vs Kong), with screenplay credits possessed by Terry Rossio, Simon Barrett, and Jeremy Slater.

The film will see Rebecca Hall return as Dr. Ilene Andrews, alongside Brian Tyree Henry's  Bernie Hayes. Dan Stevens is set to play the lead. Rounding out the cast are Kaylee Hottle, Fala Chen, Alex Ferns, and Rachel House.

Millie Bobby Brown's Madison Russell is not returning for this installment after serving as the lead character in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs Kong. Legendary sought Brown's return but the actress had scheduling conflicts due to her filming commitment on Anthony and Joe Russo's The Electric State.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is set to be released in North American theaters on April 12, 2024.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire Synopsis:
This latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever

@JobinJ - It's part of tradition. Every era of Toho godzilla films features a new look for the character.

New trailer should be released later today so we might get to see the new look in motion. The current rumor is that the film is mostly Scar vs Kong, with Godzilla sidelined as he evolves into a new form. Rumors goes on to say that he shows up at the end and wrecks everybody.

@MarkJulian - makes sense. I'm hyped

@MarkJulian - ugh. Not what I wanted to hear. I don't like the "villain" being an evil Kong, that's just lazy and unoriginal... and I hate Godzilla being sidelined in his own movie, that's very upsetting..... but... I get why. Audiences can "sympathize/relate" more to Kong than Godzilla.. but still... hoping a trailer will wow me... regardless I'll be there opening weekend

Godzilla & Kong.

Kinda reminds me of the Trump/Hillary election in 2016.

Only with better looking monsters.
