Michael Keaton In Talks To Join KONG: SKULL ISLAND

The former Batman is coming off rave reviews for his brilliant turn in Alejandro Gonzales Inarittu’s Birdman, and has nabbed a major role in Legendary Pictures' King Kong movie.

Though they make no mention of the role he'd be playing, Deadline report that Michael Keaton (Birdman, Batman, The Other Guys) is in negotiations to star in Kong: Skull Island alongside Tom Hiddleston and J.K. Simmons. Late last year the Legendary Pictures film backed away from its original release date -- and Marvels Doctor Strange -- and will now hit theaters March 10th, 2017. Details on the story are slim, but we do have this brief description. "Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions." Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kings Of Summer) will direct with a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein. What do you think of this latest casting addition?

He was great in Birdman, but I thought Edward Norton, Naomi Watts and Zach Galifinakis really stood out more.

Ok this is cool!

But THIS MOVIE NOW SEEMS LIKE A FANBOY SITTING ON CHAIR & MAKING STUNT CASTING!

Loki, J.J Jameson, Batman!!

None of these are big stars!
Sure KONG is the star but LEGENDARY did it last year with GODZILLA too ...

DONT DO STUNT CASTING!
What's next... Wesley Snipes or Margo Kidder!!

Legendary Pictures, with the exception of Interstellar, has been slacking since their departure from Warner Bros. (and, I'll admit, for a while now, even whilst at WB).

So, let's all just hope this film is as great as its cast.

@Filmfan

Keaton is a great actor. Maybe not as big as in his day, But I rather have very good actors than a big star that doesn't do anything for me. +Hiddleston and Simmons are all acting bosses.

Glad to see keaton reviving his career.

Birdman was his first lead role in a like a decade.

Sounds like a great cast but, Really??

"Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions."

Just "touched on"???? They spent an HOUR of the movie on that island during the last one, and it covered SO MUCH. Exactly what kind of creatures or sceneries or locales were NOT covered during that movie??? Sounds like a waste of time.

Peter Jackson's remarkable King King was a beautiful film full of awe, romance and anger. I have a feeling that this adaption will be more action packed and obtain more of a battlistic direction. Kong made me feel things in so many ways.

King King was an exercise in excess, but with the cast announced so far I'm interested in giving this film a chance.

Peter Jackson's King Kong would have been SOOOOO much better if they hadn't cast Jack f*cking Black in the lead role. The guy sucks and his need to try and be funny 24/7 (which he fails miserably at) damn near ruined the entire film for me.

...Now that I think about it, Adrian Brody wasn't a whole lot better.
