Craig Zobel (the brilliant Compliance) will adapt Robert C. O’Brien's sci-fi novel, Z For Zacharia, for Lotus Entertainment, the very first trailer for which you can see right here. The film stars Margot Robbie (The Wolf Of Wall Street) as a woman (a teenager in the book) who lives alone on a farm in the only valley with breathable air following the outbreak of nuclear war. Her life is turned upside down after two strangers (Star Trek Into Darkness' Chris Pine and Serenity's Chiwetel Ejifor) emerge from the forest and make contact. Below is the novel's synopsis.

Z for Zachariah

Is anyone out there? Ann Burden is sixteen years old and completely alone. The world as she once knew it is gone, ravaged by a nuclear war that has taken everyone from her. For the past year, she has lived in a remote valley with no evidence of any other survivors. But the smoke from a distant campfire shatters Ann’s solitude. Someone else is still alive and making his way toward the valley. Who is this man? What does he want? Can he be trusted? Both excited and terrified, Ann soon realizes there may be worse things than being the last person on Earth.

Z For Zachariah will be released in select theaters on August 21.

I read the book when I was in junior high and what I remember is that there were only two people on the farm.

Margot Robbie stated in an interview she's suppose to be older than the character in the book, late teens early 20's if I remember correctly.

Looks great! Question, is this movie based on any "comic book", because I am pretty sure it is adapted from a "novel"?

@fettastic There in lies the paradox. By sharing the pussy one falls in love, gets too attached and then ends up killing the other. The woman then ends up hating the surviving one for murdering someone. But if you simply kill the other, the woman ends up slowly thinking about how quickly your mind went to murder and slowly starts to distance herself. She ends up regretting that person and then hating them.

Yes. This looks frikken rad.

Man I loved the book, it really surprised me. I'm okay with the changes here too - especially Robbie. There was always a strong sexual undercurrent in the book, they've just distilled it for the movie.
