According to Deadline, Matt Reeves has signed up to direct a sequel to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment have begun screening his cut of the movie and must be happy with what they see to make this move before the sequel to 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes is released. His directing deal is said to be complete, while negotiations are ongoing for him to pen the script alongside Mark Bomback. Apparently, it's "likely that Reeves will go right into the third film, a priority for the studio." Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer. It's set for release on Memorial Day weekend, July 18th, 2014.

Matt Reeves will get to do whatever original project he wants if Dawn and Planet of the Apes 3 do well financially a la Nolan with TDK trilogy leading to Inception and Interstellar.

Reeves is a phenomenal director, I loved every minute of LET ME IN. I loved RISE, and I'm really looking forward to DAWN. Hopefully the third will be a remake of the original, that would be sweet.

I really hope the third one deals with ones who got lost in space on the mission to Mars in the first one.. Have them come back missing the events of Rise and Dawn and come back like "Where are we"? Your on The Planet of the Apes!!

Not sure about the idea of another remake of the original. Honestly, I'd perfer it just focus on Caesar and his journey before the events of that film.

Yeah the first time I saw the movie I knew where they were going with it and I just thought it was brilliant.. I hope they throw in some more Easter eggs in Dawn for the ones miss it in the first.. This could be one of the best trilogies if they do it right.. But kinda think that's exactly the route they're taking.. Can't wait for Dawn

It'll be called "Wrath of the Planet of the Apes" according to an article here on CBM posted in 2011. It was like an interviw with the director and how they saw each film setting up.

Rise features Caesars Rise to power o becoming the Ape leader
Dawn with feature Caesars loss of power to another ape
Wrath Caesar will reclaim his role but through what circumstances

That's basically how I paraphrased it.
