Matthew McConaughey Confirms He'll Star In Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR

We had heard that Nolan had offered the lead role of "Cooper" to the Magic Mike actor, and now McConaughey has confirmed that he has accepted. There are very few new details aside from that unfortunately, but read on for what we know..

That was quick! usually after we hear a director or studio is courting a certain actor for a role, weeks go by before we have any follow up news one way or the other, but Matthew McConaughey has revealed to The Star Tribune that he will indeed star in The Dark Knight trilogy director Christopher Nolan's new sci-fi flick, Interstellar. Apparently they reached out to the actor for confirmation, and he replied with simply “I’m confirming” and left it at that. Understandable given the level of secrecy that usually surrounds Nolan's movies. Interstellar has a release date of November 7th, 2014, and was originally written by Chris' brother Jonah for Steven Spielberg (who was then attached to direct). Story details are also under wraps, but it is said to involve “time travel and alternate dimensions and sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole.”

I'd really like the lead to be Cillian Murphy, actually, but...ah, well. McConaughey should be an interesting choice, too.

Cool. Nolan is a great blockbuster director, McConaughey is an underrated actor, and the premise sounds interesting. Should be cool.

[frick]ING HELL YES!!

Matthew McConaughey is a bloody brilliant actor. He picked some questionable roles in his earlier career, but he's really established himself now. Lincoln Lawyer, Killer Jack, Reign of Fire, all EPIC movies. He's also got the killer pretty boy looks, which just makes him all the more awesome.

Plus it's a [frick]ing Nolan movie. CAN'T WAIT!

he's really not as bad of an actor as people try to make him seem though. Interested to see how this movie goes since Nolan will be using a new cinematographer

That's what I love about these high school girls, I get older they stay the same age, yes they do :) Dazed and Confused was his only good role. And that role didn't stray to far from who he is.

Sounds good! I wonder which actors he'll bring back from the lrevious films.
I'm sure My Cocaine will at least have a cameo. He has literally been in every Nilan film since Batman Begins

Anyone doubting his acting chops should watch Killer Joe and The Paperboy among others.

McConaughey is so underrated.
People just remember him from his bad romcoms, but he's actually a good actor.

he should have an Oscar for the best male performance of the year
(not to mention The Golden Globe and tons of others awards) for Killer Joe.

How de hell he got snubbed, and didn't even have nomination for this is beyond me. (even though Killer Joe is not a crowd pleaser)
Basically his character of Joe was like Joker but born in a real world, not Batman universe.

I don't think any actor brought his role this year to the level Matthew did.

Now, get him a superhero role. Or supervilain.

He will rock in everything.

Can't wait for this. Contact was an awesome sci-fi drama. Looking forward to see these two knock one out of the park. I hope they don't spoon feed the audience like they did in inception, and let them interpret things freely...

Of course he accepts the role. He is not stupid. Nolans movies are popular.

McConaughey is great actor. Its good he has started to take more complicated roles again. Well... Except Magic Mike.

MarkV@ Not the only one. That film had badass cast. Chris Bale, Matt McConaughey and Gerard Butler. Wish Butler would have lived till the end thou. The chick should have died and Butler should have helped Bale kill the Daddy Dragon in the end.

I didn;t like McConahey, when I was younger. But then I saw dazed and confused, killer joe, magic mike, tropi cthunder, and Lincoln lawyer. And I think he is one of the most underrated actors.
