Deadline reports that Melissa Leo - who won the 2011 Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Fighter - has signed on for Oblivion, a futuristic thriller that stars Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Andrea Riseborough and Olga Kurylenko. Joseph Kosinski (TRON: Legacy) is directing the adaptation of the graphic novel (which he also wrote). Production recently began in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark are producing the sci-fi epic with Barry Levine and Kosinski. Michael Arndt rewrote drafts by William Monahan and Karl Gajdusek. Universal Pictures is distributing.

Oblivion has recently been moved up from July 10th to April 26th, 2013. Below is a plot summary for the story:

Oblivion is a futuristic science fiction love story that takes place in an apocalyptic future where most of the population lives in clouds above an earth surface that has been rendered for the most part uninhabitable. An earthbound soldier -- stuck there repairing drones that patrol and blast a savage alien life form -- encounters a beautiful woman who crashed in a craft, and they have an experience that forces him to question his world view.
