As a part of
Entertainment Weekly's first-look at Ridley Scott's
Prometheus, they sat down with actors Michael Fassbender ('David') and Charlize Theron ('Meredith Vickers') to discuss the film's much-speculated connection(s) to Scott's
Alien film series. Fassbender confirmed that 'recognizable creatures' will be present in the sci-fi film, and that there's 'definitely a link to
Alien' (something that director Scott confirmed a couple weeks ago). Theron, on the other hand, says that people should 'let go' of the idea of
Prometheus being an
Alien film.
The top-secret project, about a team of scientists whose spaceship (called Prometheus) gets marooned on a distant planet, has been teased as an Alien prequel, and although Scott and his cast won’t confirm that for sure, they certainly aren’t denying it. “There’s definitely a link to Alien,” claims Fassbender before adding, “There’s creatures in it that you’ll recognize.”
But other cast members, like Theron, are playing coy. Says the actress, “I think people should really let go of the idea that it’s an Alien film.”
