The cast for Warner Bros.' upcoming science fiction film Transcendence - which will mark the directorial debut of acclaimed cinematographer Wally Pfister (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception) - has been consistently impressive, with Johnny Depp leading a group which includes Paul Bettany, Rebecca Hall and Kate Mara. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, none other than Morgan Freeman is in final negotiations to join the film's cast. There are currently no details on his character. Transcendence begins filming sometime this month, and the film's secretive story reportedly features a supercomputer into which the mind of Depp's character (a scientist) is placed. The movie, which will be executive produced by Christopher Nolan, is set to hit theaters April 25th, 2014.

The cast is looking beyond great. Just like Interstellar.

Even with that cast, this film could turn out to be some self-indulgent borefest.

Johnny Depp, the next Morgan freeman... Too old, overused, and unbelievable as anything but an actor playing a role. No thanks.

@marantaz too old? woow he's 49 not 79 btw morgan is 75
and how the hell is he overused? He did just one movie in 2012 and he have just one movie in 2013 and he will appear in 2 movies in 2014 he's not like joseph gordon-levitt for exp who appear in 10 movies a year! Now thats an overused actor , johnny is so believable as anything he dosen't play himself all the time like tom cruise and brad pitt and george clooney and so on
