Natalie Portman Journeys Into The Unknown In The Intense New Trailer For Alex Garland's ANNIHILATION

Paramount has just released the full-length trailer for Alex Garland's new sci-fi horror film, Annihilation. See Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson take on some very scary looking monsters after the jump.

The first teaser for Annihilation didn't really give us a whole lot to go on, but this full-length trailer provides a much better idea of what to expect from the plot, while also unveiling the terrifying creature that'll be stalking Natalie Portman and co. in the strange new world they're exploring.

Portman (Black Swan, Thor, the Star Wars prequels) stars as Lena, a scientist tasked with finding out what happened to her husband (Oscar Isaac) by exploring a beautiful, but deadly contaminated area which has been taken over by a powerful force.

The trailer makes it very clear that Lena and her team - which includes the likes of Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tuva Novotny, Gina Rodriguez and Tessa Thompson - are going to be fighting for their lives once they uncover the mystery.

Annihilation is an adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer's novel, and is scheduled to hit theaters on Feb. 23, 2018.

@411IDSigo - she’s had some really great roles... and a pretty varied career. What’s vanilla about her... just curious

@CapnMurphy2021 - While very good in The Professional and Black Swan, she is pretty bland in the vast majority of her roles.
The Star Wars Movie
Closer
Thor

@411IDSigo - I would not include Closer... at all. And maybe not Garden State. But you’re forgetting Beautiful Girls, Hotel Chevalier (also Darjeeling Limited), V for Vendetta, My Blueberry Nights, Jackie, and Jane Got A Gun... there’s a couple more that I’m forgetting... but you get the point... I hope.

I liked the first book but havent gotten into the sequels yet. I see the book parts in there for sure but theres a lot of new stuff too. Looks interesting and I usually love Garlands work. Count me way in.

The movie has diverged greatly from the "Annihilation" Marvel storyline!
1 out of 10 stars!
Will not see!

I discovered this trilogy (“Annihilation” being the first book of the three) a year ago and LOVED it, so I have high hopes for this film. I can see from the trailer that there are already some significant deviations from the source material, but I’m willing to roll with it because adapting one medium to another obviously necessitates some change. But if the film can capture the overall feeling of the books, which I’d describe as EERIE, I’ll be very happy. I’m excited about this!

I heard this had a bad test screening.

Apparently this film is too cerebral fr the main audience.
