A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is being directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30). The film climbs into theaters July 11, 2014

This is the dumbest premise for a franchise ever. Air superiority wins wars and I can't imagine monkeys with sticks taking down an A-10.

I didn't know "monkey around" was a thing.

blackandyellow - Well there's a virus that started to spread amongst the human population at the end of the first movie, which I believe wiped out a large chunk of the human population. Maybe in the state of panic the worlds militaries didn't think of attacking the apes, instead they were too busy trying to find a cure for this virus.

^^Not to mention the humans were fighting each other for about 4 years.

@Amazing512

I agree with you. I know its all a matter of opinion and taste but the second Amazing Spiderman was just barely worth the price of admission. I think the webslinging was the only good thing in the movie. Also, the death of Gwen was done very well.

Rise and Dawn are makes of the 3rd (Escape) and 4th (Conquest) and 5th (Battle) movies of the original series. So I'm expectin' the next one will be about the 1st (Planet) and possible the 2nd (Beneath) movies. Which would be cool they even mention the space flight that Taylor (Heston) is on twice in Rise Of The Apes. First they mentioned the flight, then later in the movie they mentioned that the ship is missin'.

They never fought the apes. That's happening in this movie. They also didn't know that it was the apes that spread the virus. The virus spreads, kills people around the world, countries and governments fight each other and the world collapses.

Even though it's kind of the rule around here, don't be an asshole, just to be an asshole.... like I'm sort of doing now(?).. it's Planet of the Apes.

Hey, if this isn't your thing, that's cool.
But still...this premise really isn't any more ridiculous than the premise of any superhero story...

Oh.
And I can tell you that the humans here are definitely disadvantaged. Civilization has completely collapsed. Humans HAVE no air superiority. Physically, socially, and tactically, the apes have serious advantages.
Just saying...
