In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

ENDER'S GAME, directed by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), and the cast includes: Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley, Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Viola Davis. Coming to theaters November 1, 2013!

Nibs: the book in which this movie is based on is older than you and Harry Potter.

VictorHugo's correct, Ender's Game came out in 1985 while Harry Potter was first released in 1997.

Ender's Game is an older book than Harry Potter.

Still....I loved the book but the trailers for the movie arent impressing me.

On IMDB I once saw someone say Gandalf from LotR was a Dumbledor rip off. :)

Haters gonna hate. This movie looks epic. Bring on movies based on the Shadow series or Speaker for the Dead. I'm 100% on board. I hope this movie is amazing. I will be incredibly depressed if it turns out to be X-Men 3.

Lionsgate is desperately hoping audiences will get a Harry Potter vibe and not a Starship Troopers vibe. I'm betting on more of a Sorcerer's Apprentice vibe.

If Harry Potter featured children literally beating each other to death, then sure, that'd be the comparison to go with.

As was said before, aside from the main characters' age and the idea of an imending war, there is little to compare between the two series. Harry Potter is a mystery-oriented, villain-of-the-week fantasy adventure, whereas Ender's Game is a deep look into human nature, the inner psyche, and battle tactics in three dimensions.
