Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) – there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. The film is directed by Len Wiseman. The screenplay is by Kurt Wimmer and Mark Bomback and the screen story is by Ronald Shusett & Dan O'Bannon and Jon Povill. The producers are Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe.

Total Recall is set to hit theatres on August 3, 2012.

I think it would actually make a better video game than a movie remake.

you people are infuriating. the first movie was such a godawful example of pissing on the source that i cant even imagine how a single person on this site could have enjoyed three minutes of it.

you hypocrites bitch about cheese and plot holes and stupid dialogue in every !@#$ing other movie. you complain about TASM and even TDKR for god's sake!!! but when someone actually tries to do a serious respectful version of a story that's one of the WORST offenders in ALL THOSE CATEGORIES you say it didn't need a reboot.

this movie was in DESPERATE need of a reboot. the original was one of the biggest embarassments ever to score a wide release. id rather watch !@#$ing kull the conqueror ten times in a row than watch that crap. it was verhoeveny enough to sit through but evry time retarnold was on screen it felt like someone was rubbing shit in my eyes. what sci-fi fan could have possibly enjoyed it?

oh i know, people that think retarnold is awesome and makes everything awesome and he kicks ass and is just so awesome, dude. yeah, awesome. well i for one am !@#$ing GLAD i'll get the chance to see a movie that's actually about his struggle with his MEMORY ISSUES instead of a candy-colored trainwreck about quaid's adventures in space. AND I CANT WAITTTTTTTTTTTT!

Forget that it is based off of a book, seriously, this movie is NOT being rebooted for posterity's sake. You don't reboot TWO Verhoeven movies within two years and not have an agenda.

and they're talking about troopers, too. for the record, i think its nuts to reboot robocop, even if i am curious about what they do with it. talk about a classic that DOESN'T need a reboot. i'm not a reboot fan in general, i just despise the original total recall with a passion.

@AlternateNo4: and this one looks no different to me, it's a remake of Verhoeven's film not a readaptation of Dick's short story so it's useless.
Oh, wait: fans of the original had a decent BD of it beacause of this film, so it wasn't that useless after all, I hope the same will happen with Robocop....
