After being spotted on set recently, The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed that David Denman (The Office) has indeed joined the cast of Lionsgate's upcoming Power Rangers reboot as Sam Scott, the father of Jason Lee Scott, the Red Ranger. He's being described as someone "who is often at odds with his son over Jason's football career." Denman was photographed with his on-screen son, played by Dacre Montgomery (A Few Less Men), two weeks ago and you can check that photo out below.

Denman joins a cast headlined by Montgomery and his four young co-stars: RJ Cyler (Me And Earl And The Dying Girl), Ludi Lin (Monster Hunt), Naomi Scott (The Martian), and Becky Gomez (Empire). The cast also features 3x Primetime Emmy nominee Elizabeth Banks (Spider-Man Trilogy) as the villainous Rita Repulsa and Anjali Jay (Continuum) as Maddy Hart, mother of Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger.

Denman was most recently seen in the Michael Bay-directed 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, but is probably best known for his role as Roy Anderson on NBC's hit comedy The Office. He can be seen next on Cinemax's horror drama series Outcast.

So, what do you guys think of the casting? Sound off with your thoughts below!

I wonder if they're going for a pg13 approach or intended to make it purely for kids, heck lets just make an R rated cut

@TheEpicJuicebox - they said the movie would be mature, but playful.
I guess that makes it pg-13.

@knocturnalzen10 - Yeah, i grew up with them and watched the first movie more than a thousand time, i don't have much hope regarding the quality that Lionsgate will provide... but i still hope to get some of the magic back.
