Pre-sale tickets for the science-fiction/horror prequel has sold more early tickets than Avatar, Harry Potter or The Dark Knight.

During the first 24 hours tickets were available, Ridley Scott's new foray into old territory sold $221,717 (£137,000) worth of tickets for the UK's largest screen, the BFI IMAX on London's South Bank.

Additionally, the first week of receipts totaled $474,687 (£293,312), the highest grossing week of pre-sale tickets ever.

Fans that purchase tickets for the opening week of Prometheus will not only be one of the first to see the film on a 60-foot plus screen, they'll also be entered to win one of ten Prometheus gift bags (including a laptop skin and t-shirt) or books, Prometheus: The Art Of The Film, a gorgeous coffee table book that will make their friends jealous.

Friends in the UK can click here to order their tickets early.
