Fans will be able to enter the Oasis a day earlier than expected, as Warner Bros. moved up the release date of the highly anticipated Ready Player One.
Originally opening on Good Friday on March 30, the Steven Spielberg-directed sci-fi film will instead release on Thursday, March 29. This means that Ready Player One will have screenings as early as matinees, according to Deadline.
Based on Ernest Cline's 2011 novel of the same name, Ready Player One introduces us to the expansive virtual reality universe called Oasis. When the brilliant James Halliday, creator of Oasis, dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person who finds a digital Easter egg he has hidden within the virtual world. The story specifically follows teenager Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) through the competition, who quickly becomes an unlikely hero when he discovers a much deeper danger.
Ready Player One is now slated to hit theaters March 29, 2018.
