Real Steel Sequel Already in Development: New Franchise For Hugh Jackman?

Even though it's not opening until October, it seems that, according to Deadline, Dreamworks is already putting a sequel to the Hugh Jackman starrer into development, with the original's John Gatins returning to script the sci-fi actioner.

Offers Deadline, "DreamWorks has gotten strong response to internal screenings of the film, and at a CinemaCon presentation of footage in Las Vegas. The film is a Rocky-meets-Transformers tale of a prize fighter whose pugilistic skills are rendered obsolete when human boxers are replaced by robots. The fighter (Jackman) becomes a boxing promoter and finds a discarded robot that wins and wins. The fighter also discovers he has a 13-year old son, who comes along for the ride as the robot heads toward the top against scary competition."

Real Steel is based on a Richard Matheson short story.

Remember when someone posted a pic of one of those robots sometime last year and everyone thought it was going to be one of the new Transformers? Dumbasses.

And I'm sure they'll shelve that sequel once this movie makes $20.

Hugh Jackman must change his agent..

Deception, Australia, Wolverine and now Real Steel? Really?

I miss the time where he played good movies like X-Men 1 & 2, Swordfish, The Fountain, The Prestige...

Maybe Snow White will rise him again.

He's a great actor, but since few years, he plays in bad movies.

This is simply one of the worst movies i have heard about ever... At least transformers source material had established a decent narrative structure to work from and created a somewhat plausible, logic storyline within that universe. This is simply awful, boxing robots?? Its like a lame version of the robot war tv show. If there were robots fighting, ever - they wouldnt be [frick]in fist fighting.

I'm not sold on Rock em Sock em Robots the movie so I'm not seeing this, and they also said that Van Hellsing was going to be Jackmans new franchise and look how that turned out.

Why do crap movies move ahead so quickly and good ones take forever to be made?

Maybe Hugh Jackman will be so busy that he wont be able to do anymore Wolverine movies! Then either MARVEL will get the rights back or FOX will get somebody to portray 'The Runt' who isn't 6'3''!
