"You're going on a journey, a journey through memory. Your destination... a place in time you've been before. To reach it, all you have to do is follow my voice."

Warner Bros. Pictures has officially announced this morning that Lisa Joy's upcoming sci-fi action thriller Reminiscence will arrive simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max on September 3.

It's set to hit international theaters one week early on August 25.

The film stars Hugh Jackman (X-Men; Logan) in the lead role as Nick Bannister, a private investigator of the mind who helps clients access lost memories. His life is forever changed when he takes on a new client, Mae (Rebecca Ferguson), only to uncover a violent conspiracy and ultimately have to answer the question: how far would you go to hold on to the ones you love?

While she's previously helmed an episode of HBO's Westworld, the acclaimed series she co-created with her husband Jonathan Nolan, Reminiscence will mark Joy's feature film directorial debut. She also served as the sole screenwriter and is also one of the producers. 2x Primetime Emmy-nominee Paul Cameron (Collateral; Westworld) is the cinematographer on the project.

In addition to Jackman and Ferguson, the talented ensemble cast also features Thandie Newton (Westworld; Mission: Impossible II), Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands; Tomb Raider), Cliff Curtis (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & ShawDoctor Sleep), Nico Parker (DumboThe Third Day), Angela Sarafyan (Westworld; Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile), Natalie Martinez (The StandBattle at Big Rock), Marina de Tavira (RomaThis Is Not Berlin), and Mojean Aria (SeeCall of the Void).

Nicolas Bannister, a rugged and solitary veteran living in a near-future Miami flooded by rising seas, is an expert in a dangerous occupation: he offers clients the chance to relive any memory they desire. His life changes when he meets Mae. What begins as a simple matter of lost and found becomes a passionate love affair. But when a different client's memories implicate Mae in a series of violent crimes, Bannister must delve through the dark world of the past to uncover the truth about the woman he fell for.

Reminiscence arrives in theaters and on HBO Max on September 3

Looks cool. Jackman's doing some interesting projects recently between this, Bad Education and the Michael Mann Ferrari film.

I know they’re not changing memories, but the premise reminded me of To the Moon. Such great little game.

The premise sounds great & Hughman/Fergusson combo is really good.
