Going into its third weekend, Rise of the Planet of the Apes continues to shock the most skeptical of people out there by not only being a critically successful film, but scoring at the box office as well. At this point, the film has surpassed $200 million globally. The breakdown is $1174 million in America and $94.1, bringing the grand total to $211.6 million. Which, for those keeping track of such things (such as Ape Central) is nearly $25 million in the profit zone with a lot more to come. C'mon, Fox, announce a sequel!

I was dragged to the cinema to watch this and so glad i was!! It was brilliant best film of the year by far if Andy Serkis doesn't even get a nomination for an Oscar it would be criminal.

Anyone talented with Photoshop -- why not create the future Green Lantern of Earth, Caesar? Just a goofy thought.

This was the best movie of the year, yes, far better than Deathly Hallows imo. I agree @eatmyhit Andy Serkis' portrayal of Cesar was very moving and and as emotionally driven as they come! He does deserve at the very least a Best Supporting Role win(even though the story was about his rise to ape-liberator). Best movie of the year!

It hasn't actually made a lot of money in terms of box office worldwide. What it has done is made a helluva lot of profit because it didn't cost a bomb to make, only a mere $93 million. So the fact it's made only $211 million worldwide means the studio get practically 80-90% of that figure which is basically $100 million profit already with weeks still to come before their ticket split is down to 50/50 and lower with the theatres. That's bloody excellent and pretty much stamps the go ahead for a sequel!

Gonna see it again. Fox, now show some love to the X-Men movies while you own the rights...or you could just sell the rights back to Marvel being that you'll be soooo busy developing new POTA movies. Riiiight?!!

the two best movies of the year (X:FC/RotPotA) both came from Fox. the world's gone crazy

The best thing about this movie for me was the fact that it closes all the plot holes from all the previous flims( even the reboot PotA) It was also the first time (not counting Pineapple Express, which is a comedy)that I thought James Franco was good in a film.

RotPotA=Epic Win!!!
