I still haven't seen this as it isn't released here until this coming Friday, but by all accounts it's every bit as god as the trailers suggested it would be. Or better. So I'm very excited. Anyway, Bleeding Cool caught up with the movie's director Rupert Wyatt and he gave them an insight into his thought process should he be involved with the bound to happen sequel..

There’s so much we could do… The ideas I’ve had are all sorts of things, ranging from Full Metal Jacket with apes… you could start this story again eight years from where we left off, the next generation of apes, those that have come from our protagonists, perhaps going in to a conflict humans and showing real fear, in the same way as going into war for young soldiers in this day and age, telling their story. Or how apes are taking over cities, and being moved into human environments and having to interact with them and deal with things that are part of our culture and understand and evolve through them. Spies that are in the employ of the apes, working against humans and humans maybe existing underground, because that’s a way they can avoid the virus, coming up above ground wearing gas masks, and maybe that’s what dehumanises them.

Full Metal Jacket with Apes eh? I'd watch it. Nice to see that Wyatt has been thinking about how best to progress the story anyway. I wish I could comment further but like I said, still ain't see it. For those of you who have..

I wouldn't say best, but I really enjoyed it. I liked Super 8, Captain America, and X-men better than this. Really hoping for a sequel.

*SPOILER* Did anyone notice the newspaper saying there was a Mars mission and they got lost in space!? I think this could lead up to how the space craft lands on earth after being missing for like 60 years and then they discover the Planet of the Apes, but they don't know it's earth like in the original. Anyway I think that was a small easter egg the movie gave us.

yeah i saw that too RAVEN, i just took it as a little nod to the original movie, but thats def possible, would be sweet too

also, ***minor spoiler*** i loved the nod to the other movies with the monkey riding the horse, and (i may be wrong but) when caesar speaks the first time and says no, isnt that to the kid saying "get your hands off me you damn dirty ape"? heston says that in the original movie too

Human social integration can offer many different directions that ultimately lead to ape dominion.One example would be apes learning how to use technology which they could eventually use, in part ,to take control.
Although they would be exposed to porn too...hrumm?

Ironic, many hate fox yet their the ones who arguably gave us the best films of the summer with x men and now planet of the apes. These two films were under fire by many of the people on this site and now are praising it even thou many bashed them the minute they were announced. Pathetic

Minus the fact that anything James Franco sucks, this was the best movie of the year, thus far.

Ceasar was one bad ass monkey ...I mean ape.

Alow me to concur with my CBM colleagues;

This movie was pretty goddamn well made!

As for good ol' fashioned ENJOYMENT, it wins the prize so far for movies this year. Bravo!

In this movie, the apes especially Ceasar are reluctant to hurt or kill the humans, so the next movie should deal with what happened to make the apes become agressive towards humans.

Best movie of the year hands down, cant get over just how many epicly awesome scenes this movie had. M Bay needs to watch this movie to learn about character development although even before the drug the monkey might b too advanced for him :)

If you see one movie this year make it this one d:
