Russell. T. Davies Explains The Continuity Of "Torchwood: Miracle Day"!

After concerns over whether the upcoming series of "Torchwood" would still be set within the "Doctor Who" universe, Creator and Executive Producer Russell. T. Davies has put minds to rest by answering that yes, it will be!

Talking at the the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, Davies had this to say:

"Captain Jack is immortal, and what we are talking about is the world turns immortal... There’s an awful lot of story packed into that... There’s no break in continuity. There’s no fracturing. There’s fewer references to Doctor Who, because we are making a show out here, they are making a show in Britain."

"It’s quite difficult to coordinate any sort of crossover. Neither would you want to, because both shows have a fantastic identity of their own. But for those fans who like that sort of stuff, it’s still absolutely faithful."

So RTD's FINALLY finished with the USA crossover? I heard he was in LA working on it, but other than that - nada. So there's to be a Capt. Jack crossover to introduce 'Torchwood USA'? ...interesting. I speculated as much awhile back. All I need is the when and where? Is this going to be on BBC America? ...Syfy (shudder)? ...AMC? ...another network? When is it being released? Is the release being synced with the original series season premier? I've GOT to know!!!

@DDD: I'd actually like to think that TORCHWOOD was already global; it was created to 'fight the horde and keep Britain Great', so they would have had outfits in all of the Empire's Dominion- India, Australia, Canada...

Still think the new title sounds like crap.

However, can't wait for this show to hit. Especially with a Buffy veteran onboard.

Does anyone know if Ben Foster is still scoring?

I actually do like the title. It's got an ominous tone because you know right away something is happening that's considered a "miracle" (nobody dying), but, because its Torchwood, you know the root of the issue is truly horrifying. I don't like, however, the plot because it removes Jack's uniqueness and if overpopulation is an issue, then it would be a repeat of Children of Earth: finding a good number of people to try and eliminate for the greater good. Not thrilled about the cast, though. All good actors, but I was hoping Martha Jones would take over as doctor, which would leave her husband, Mickey Smith, a new field agent or something if they end up leaving U.N.I.T. They could've even thrown in John Hart as a new teammate. Also, because it takes place in America, you'd think it'd be easier to avoid as many Doctor Who references as possible so as not to alienate new audiences, unfortunatly, the new season of Doctor Who also takes place mostly in America, so the possibility of a crossover may be more likely.
