During the Star Trek Universe Panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2023, fans were treated to an action-packed sneak peek clip from the upcoming final season of Star Trek: Discovery.
The clip immediately drops us in the middle of a face-off between Captain Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Season 5's two new villains Moll (Eve Harlow) and L'ak (Elias Toufexis). The two attempt to make their escape by detonating an explosive that sends Burham hurling out of the starship into space. Luckily, her space suit materializes around her and she hops aboard the enemy ship as it launches into warp speed. From there, we're taken on a wild ride. Check out the clip below.
Star Trek: Discovery, which first debuted back in 2017, was the first series since Enterprise and the first to stream on Paramount+. The original series serves as a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. Rather than serialized episodes, Discovery tends to follow a single overarching narrative each season. According to the synopsis, Season 5 "will find Captain Burnham and the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery uncovering a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose very existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries. But there are others on the hunt as well... dangerous foes who are desperate to claim the prize for themselves and will stop at nothing to get it."
In addition to the clip, Paramount+ has released a featurette that looks ahead to the upcoming season, which will be the final one for Star Trek: Discovery. Check out the video below in which Sonequa Martin-Green (Michael Burnham), David Ajala (Cleavland Booker) and Blu Del Barrio (Adira Tal) share a behind-the-scenes sneak peek into the final season.
It was also revealed during the Comic-Con panel that Strange New Worlds, which is a spin-off of Discovery, will be getting a full-fledged musical episode featuring 10 original songs. A very brief trailer for the upcoming episode was shared, which you can watch here.
