Speaking with Access Hollywood, actor Chris Pine discusses the upcoming sequel to the 2009 Star Trek reboot (in which he plays Capt. James T. Kirk). “Of course I’m gonna tell you I think it’s gonna be better,” he said. “You pick up the characters from where they left off, and the development of the characters — I think — is just as exciting as the first one. And it’s relentless. I think that’s the best adjective I can use.”

Additionally, he confirms that filming on the JJ Abrams-directed flick will be wrapped up soon. “We’re almost done,” he says. “It’s wrapping up very soon. It’s just as action-packed as the first one.”

Star Trek 2 (not the final title), which also stars Zoe Saldana, Benedict Cumberbatch, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban and Alice Eve, is set to hit theaters May 17th, 2013.
